Hello friends!
A couple weeks ago I shared a sneak peek on Instagram of some stitched hearts I was working on. I love the spools of Crochet Thread (I like to pick them up at Hobby Lobby when they are on sale) for stitching on cardstock. These clean and simple designed cards are showstoppers with the hand stitching and pretty cardstock colors. These stitched heart panels would be pretty as home decor as well. I could see these strung together for a banner!
I created a couple different sizes of cards, both top fold A2 cards and 4 Bar landscape cards. Cardstocks is pinks, coral, red, and aqua make for a pretty and modern card set. If you're looking for envelopes to go with these cards/colors, I suggest Simon Says Stamp Envelopes in Metallic Cotton Candy, Cotton Candy, Metallic Doll Pink, Doll Pink, Metallic Schoolhouse Red, Schoolhouse Red, Metallic Audrey Blue or Audrey Blue.
I created these cards assembly line style starting with the stitching panels. I die cut the Waffle Flower Stitched Hearts Dies and the Pinking Layers Dies from smooth white cardstock for both sizes of cards. I used the two largest hearts from the Stitched Hearts Dies and the second and third largest Pinking Layers Dies. The die cut holes make stitching on paper so super quick and easy! If you're not crazy about stitching on paper, you could try the same technique with felt. In fact, the felt would be awesome for a home decor banner!
I used an assortment of crochet thread colors from Hobby Lobby for my stitching in red, hot pink, light pink, coral, and aqua. A little bit more about the stitched designs I used a bit further down in this post.
I die cut scalloped panels for both card sizes of cards from Simon Says Stamp Cotton Pink, Simon Says Stamp Doll Pink Cardstock, Lawn Fawn Guava Cardstock, Lawn Fawn Chili Pepper Cardstock, and Lawn Fawn Mermaid Cardstock using the Waffle Flower Lacy Layers 2 Dies.
I die cut greetings from Simon Says Stamp Cotton Pink, Simon Says Stamp Doll Pink Cardstock, Lawn Fawn Guava Cardstock, Lawn Fawn Chili Pepper Cardstock, and Lawn Fawn Mermaid Cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Sending Die and Simon Says Stamp Big Hugs Die. I die cut the greetings again from Lawn Fawn Storm Cloud Cardstock to use as a "shadow" for each greeting.
I layered a colorful cardstock die cut word over a gray cardstock greeting for each card and adhered them with a glue pen as shown.
I stamped additional greetings on each stitched heart panel using the Simon Says Stamp Sending & Wishing Stamp Set and Simon Says Stamp Candy Hearts Stamp Set with Waffle Flower My Pleasure Ink, Safe Choice Ink, New Fish In Pond Ink, and Tickled Pink Ink.
I adhered each stitched heart panel to a colorful cardstock scalloped panel with foam adhesive and then adhered each to a top fold A2 card or 4 Bar landscape card.
This stitched heart design features each stitch comes up in a hole around the design and goes down in the top center hole. Every single one. Super easy.
These hearts feature a "crossover" kind of design. A bit trickier but once you've stitched one, you're hooked and they become easy to make!
The final design is a "zig zag" heart. These took me a bit to figure out but once I die I really loved the look of them.
I hope these stitched heart Valentine's inspire you to try a bit of hand stitching on cards!
