Lil' Inker Designs Mini Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the Lil' Inker Designs Mini Release Blog Hop! 

I'm thrilled to be hopping along with Lil' Inker Designs today and to showcase this awesome new Be The Reason That Someone Smiles Today greeting stamp! The message of this sentiment is one of my favorites and the style of this greeting makes it fantastic to make it the focal point of a card (or two!).

To create my cards, I first die cut two panels from Bristol Smooth Cardstock using the Lil Inker Design Dual Dotted Rectangles. I love the embossed dotted borders around each panel (I used the largest A2 sized die from the set).

I stamped the Be The Reason That Someone Smiles Today greeting stamp in the center of both panels using Versamark Ink and heat embossed the greeting with white embossing powder. I applied Distress Inks over the greetings for the embossed resist look shown here, using a trio of inks per design:

The pink/orange/yellow card features Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks.

The yellow/green/blue card features Squeezed Lemonade, Shabby Shutters, and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks.

Once inked, I spritzed each panel with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotted the backgrounds dry with a paper towel.

I adhered each panel to a side fold card base and then embellished each with Nuvo Crystal Drops. 

The pink card features Nuvo Crystal Drops in Carnation Pink, Ripened Pumpkin and Dandelion Yellow.

The blue card features Nuvo Crystal Drops in Caribbean Ocean, Dandelion Yellow, and Apple Green.

Simon Says Stamp | Layered Background Stamps Mom Forget-Me-Nots Card

Hello! I'm sneaking in one last share before April is over. I meant to post this card earlier this month and I accidentally missed scheduling it so you're getting it tonight instead! 

The new Simon Says Stamp Forget Me Not dies and Big Mom die were two of my favorites from the most recent Mothers Fathers Florals Release and I think they look stunning as the focal point of this card! A strong background created with the Leaves Background and You Matter Background and Distress Inks sets the tone for the card. A vellum border with Scallop Stitches Borders helps the greeting and Forget Me Nots really stand out!

The Forget Me Nots and Big Mom were die cut from Bristol Smooth Cardstock and then inked with Shaded Lilac, Blueprint Sketch, Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, and Black Soot Distress Inks.

The background panel was trimmed to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I inked up the Leaves Background with Shabby Shutters and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks, spritzed the stamp with water from a Mini Mister and stamped the background. The watered down images gives a gorgeous watercolored look to the image. Once dry (I used a heat tool to speed up the process) the You Matter Background was stamped over the leaves with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. I dried the text and then applied Shabby Shutters Distress Ink over the background with an Ink Blending Tool. The background was spritzed with water from a Distress Sprayer and then blotted dry with a paper towel.

A vellum strip was die cut on both long sides with the largest Scallop Stitches Border. I stamped a smaller greeting phrase along the bottom edge of the strip with greetings from the Thankful Heart Stamp Set using Versamark Ink and heat embossed the phrase the white embossing powder.

The Forget Me Nots and Big Mom were adhered to the vellum strip as shown and then the strip was adhered to the stamped and inked background.

The panel was secured to a side fold card base and then the design was finished with Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew.

Lawn Fawn | Embroidered Hello Felt Rainbow Mini Pillow

Happy weekend crafty friends! The snow (yes, I said SNOW, blech) is flying here in Western Kansas so I'm cheering myself up with this bright and happy rainbow pillow! Today I'm sharing something fun you can create with your paper crafting dies with this little 6" square mini pillow created with Taylored Expressions Felt and Lawn Fawn dies! The Lawn Fawn Rainbow, Puffy Clouds, and Embroidered Hello dies make for creating the perfect little accent on this mini decorative pillow! (This could also be a pincushion if you want.)

To create my pillow, I first die cut rainbows from Taylored Expressions Red Hot, Carrot, Butter, Avocado, Robins' Egg, Blue Jeans, and Orchid felt using the Lawn Fawn Rainbow die. You will have a lot of leftover curved rainbows so make more non-traditional rainbows (out of order colors) or roll those into little flowers and hot glue them so you don't waste any of this gorgeous felt.The green pieces would make fantastic flower stems. I'm sure there are many other creative ideas for the leftover pieces too! I usually keep my scraps in a bin for when I need one. 

The felt on it's own isn't sturdy enough for machine stitching (it could pull easily) so next I die cut a piece of fusible interfacing with the Rainbow die and ironed the felt pieces to the interfacing to give it stability. This step is really important if you're planning on machine stitching like I did here. I also think if you would choose to hand stitch them in place, it will help give the design more stability. 

The clouds were die cut from Taylored Expressions Marshmallow felt using thePuffy Clouds and also backed with fusible interfacing. The little heart was die cut from Red Hot using the smallest Lawn Fawn Hearts die.

Two pieces of fabric were cut for the design (polka dot for the front, and a blue ombre for the back. Both are 6 1/2" squares (the pillow will be 6" finished). Each square was backed with fusible interfacing to make the little decorative pillow more sturdy and also for the front it gives stability when die cutting the Embroidered Hello. I ran the panel through my Big Shot with the Embroidered Hello die.

I machine blanket stitched each color of the rainbow using coordinating thread and then machine stitched the cloud on the left. I used #10 blue crochet thread (from Hobby Lobby) to hand back stitch the word "hello" before finishing the machine stitching of the two additional clouds and the little heart.

I placed the front decorative panel and back panel, front to front and pinned them together. I sewed around the edges with a 1/4" seam, leaving a small opening for turning in the bottom. I trimmed the corners and then turned the mini pillow right side out and ironed it flat before stuffing with polyester filberfill and hand stitching the opening closed.

Simon Says Stamp | Spring Flowers + More Spring Flowers Card

It's spring (even though it's not feeling much like it here in Kansas at the moment....brrrr!) and the flowers are blooming. Today I'm sharing cards featuring the gorgeous florals from the Simon Says Stamp Spring Flowers and More Spring Flowers stamp sets. These beautiful flowers make a fantastic paper garden, don't you think?!!! A simple Distress Inked background with stamped greetings from the Sending You Stamp Set add the perfect backdrop for these cards.

Florals and greenery from the Simon Says Stamp Spring Flowers and More Spring Flowers stamp sets were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The images were watercolored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush pen before being die cut with the coordinating dies.

For the background, I blended Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks on Bristol Smooth Cardstock before spritzing with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotting dry with a paper towel. Greetings from the Winnie & Walter Sending You Stamp Set were stamped on the background with black ink.

The flowers and greenery were adhered along the bottom edge of the card as shown, trimming the excess to fit the card panel. Glossy Accents was adhered to the small circles and throughout the card to give the illusion of dew drops.

Each panel was secured to a white side fold card base to finish the design.

Honey Bee Stamps Birthday Bash Blog Hop + GIVEAWAY

The Hive Card base and layer were die cut from Lawn Fawn Sunflower Cardstock. Texture and dimension was created with Gathered Twigs and Wild Honey Distress Inks and a rounded edged mask created with a die. The texture on the hive adds so much interest to the design.

A greeting from the Bee-You-Tiful Sentiments Stamp Set was stamped on the front panel of the shaped card design with the rest of the greeting stamped on the inside of the card. The front hive panel was adhered to the hive shaped card base with foam adhesive for a bit of dimension.

Two bees from the Build-A-Bee Stamp Set and four small bees from the Free Bees stamps and dies were stamped on smooth white cardstock using Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink and colored in with Copic Markers before being die cut with the Build-A-Bee Dies and the Free Bees dies. A bit of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen was added to the wings on the bees and a black glaze pen was used on the antennae. Glossy Accents was applied to the eyes on the large bees.

Honey Jar Sequins were adhered to the front of the card as shown.

An additional bee was adhered to the inside of the card for a bit of fun "inside" the bee hive!

Waffle Flower Crafts | Stitched Unicorn Shaker Cards

What is better than rainbows and unicorns? How about adding an interactive shaker element to the design. I'm addicted to the Waffle Flower Crafts stitched dies. They make this former cross stitcher super happy! The Stitched Unicorn Stamp Set is fantastic for creating magical themed cards.

I die cut a frame and inside shaker panel from smooth white cardstock using a Stitched Layers Die. On the inside panel I stamped the unicorn/frame using Waffle Flower Inks in My Pleasure, Oh Happy Day, You Said What, Chirp Chirp, Daydreaming, and Like A Pro. 

The greeting and eyes were stamped with Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink as shown.

Mini stars and hearts were stamped around the background using the My Pleasure, Oh Happy Day, and You Said What inks.

The eye on each unicorn was finished with a bit of Glossy Accents to make it dimensional and shine.

For the shaker, the frame was backed with acetate and framed up with two layers of foam adhesive before being filled with Pretty Pink Posh Iridescent Mini Star Confetti, Sparkling Clear Stars, and Hydrangea Seed Beads.

Simons Says Stamp | Flora Background with Big Hugs Die Cut Greeting

Hello friends! I can't get enough of the amazing background stamps from the Simon Says Stamp Mothers Fathers Florals Release. I used the Cora Background with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers for this Mother's Day card HERE and today I'm sharing another watercolored background but this time with the Floral Background and a die cut greeting from the stamped and colored background. Super simple but effective and another way to keep the focus on the gorgeous background stamped image and coloring.

The Cora Background was stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder before being watercolored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. 

Once dry, I die cut the Simon Says Stamp Big Hugs from the background, being sure to keep all the components to put the background back together. I applied Stick It to both sides of a piece of Fun Foam and die cut the foam with the Big Hugs Die. The background panel was adhered to a white side fold card base and then the dimensional hugs was adhered to the die cut opening. I removed the other side of the backing from the fun foam and then adhered the die cut hugs on top of foam.

A greeting from the Thankful Heart Stamp Set was stamped on black cardstock using Versamark Ink and heat embossed the phrase with white embossing powder. I trimmed the phrase into a strip and adhered it to the card as shown.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Little Dog Agenda

Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is featuring the new Little Dog Agenda Stamp Set and coordinating dies. I paired these sweet new images with the Wishing You Stamp Set and the Number It Dies. The Little Dog Agenda images are perfect for almost any occasion card, just like the Little Cat Agenda images.

For the background, greetings from the Wishing You Stamp Set were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Tumbled Glass Distress Ink was applied over the background for embossed resist.

Numbers were die cut from a Fun Foam/Stick It/Cardstock sandwich using the Number It Dies. Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Scattered Straw, Mowed Lawn, and Salty Ocean Distress Inks were applied to the numbers and then adhered between the greeting on the card background as shown.

Five doggies from the Little Dog Agenda Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock using black ink and colored with Copic Markers before being die cut with the coordinating dies. The images were adhered above the dimensional numbers using foam adhesive.

I finished the card with a scattering of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Red Berry, Ripened Pumpkin, Dandelion Yellow, Green Apple, and Caribbean Ocean.

Mama Elephant Stamp Highlight | Sticky Notes

Today the Mama Elephant Design Team is featuring the new Sticky Notes Stamp Set. These fantastic cute images work perfectly for planner addicts and card makers alike! I paired these cute images with additional doggies from the Little Dog Agenda Stamp Set and coordinating dies and a Polaroid Fun Frame. A custom stamped background and sweet framed up sticky notes and dogs remind the recipient of this cute card that they are the best!

I stamped the sticky notes images, lines, check mark from the Sticky Notes Stamp Set on smooth white cardstock using Lawn Fawn Manatee Ink. The soft gray ink is muted just enough to add interest to the background but not overpower the polaroid framed image.

Polaroid Frames were die cut from smooth white cardstock and black cardstock and layered so the black cardstock gives a bit of a "shadow" to the white frame. On the inside square piece, I stamped images and a greeting from the Sticky Notes Stamp Set using Jet Black Ink. I also stamped three dog images from the Little Dog Agenda Stamp Set and then colored in the images with Copic Markers before die cutting the three extra doggies with the coordinating dies Little Dog Agenda dies.

I finished the card by "taping it" up to the center of the stamped background with some gray striped washi tape.

Waffle Flower Crafts It's In The Details | Fun Eyes & Multiple Stamped Images Scene Card

It's time for my weekly video series, It's In The Details, for the Waffle Flower Inspiration Team. Every week I will share a new video featuring amazing Waffle Flower Stamps and Dies. 

There are times where you don’t need lots and lots of different images to convey your message on a card. Try stamping multiples of a single image, like I did with the bananas from the Willy & Friends Stamp Set for this “Thanks A Bunch” card. The multiple bananas and greeting perfectly tell the recipient just how thankful you are. Willy from Willy & Friends and a snail from Snail Mail are the perfect critters for this thank you card and the addition of some decorative eye stickers add a playful and fun touch to the design. The signage from Snail Mail was customized with a greeting from Willy & Friends using some creative masking. A frame die cut using the Lacy Layers dies perfectly frames up this sweet scene!

The bananas, hat, bow tie, and monkey from the Willy & Friends Stamp Set and the sign and snail from the Snail Mail Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock using Jet Black Ink. The sign was customized with a greeting from Willy & Friends using some creative masking with washi tape. The images were colored with Copic Markers and then die cut with the Willy & Friends dies and Snail Mail dies.

For the background, I applied Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron Distress Inks to Bristol Smooth cardstock before spritzing with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotting dry with a paper towel.

The background was framed up with Lacy Layers die cut from smooth white cardstock. The scene was assembled as shown and the monkey and snail were finished with Simon Says Stamp Eyes On You Stickers. These stickers are a fun way to add a cartoon-ish, playful look to critters. I love that they are really low profile as well so they go through the mail easily!

I finished the card with some tiny, tiny stamped hearts from the Snail Mail Stamp Set stamped with My Pleasure Ink.
