I'm back with another tri-fold card design! I couldn't get this idea out of my heat after creating THIS tri-fold card featuring the Plane and Simple Stamps and Dies so I thought I'd share how cute a vertical tri-fold card can be as opposed the the horizontal design of the planes card. All you do is switch the way the card opens! Easy peasy! The underwater scene is perfect for this mermaids and sea creatures themed card!
I started with a piece of Canson Watercolor cardstock trimmed to 5 1/2" wide (the paper is 12" long). I scored the panel 4" from each end for four equal 4" x 5 1/2" panels using a Scor Pal Tool. I applied Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks all over the background using a circular motion. I spritzed the panel with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotted it dry with a paper towel. I used a Simon Says Stamp Waves Stencil over the top and pounced the same Distress Ink colors over the top for a subtle wave effect over the background. I think THIS waves stencil would work, too!
For the bottom edge of the design, I trimmed a scrap of the leftover watercolor cardstock to 5 1/2" wide and die cut the long edge with a Simple Stitched Hillside Border before adding color to the "sand" with Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks. this border is adhered along the bottom edge of the tri-fold card and is the perfect place to write a sentiment to the recipient! A greeting from the Mermaid For You Stamp Set was stamped along the top edge with Black Licorice Ink.
Solid images from the Mermaid For You Stamp Set were stamped with Lobster, Carrot, Celery Stick, and Jalapeno Inks (seaweed and coral). Outline images from the Mermaid For You Stamp Set, Duh-Nuh, and Fintastic Friends stamp sets were stamped with Lawn Fawn Jet Black Ink and colored in with Copic Markers. All the images were die cut with the coordinating Mermaid For You, Duh-Nuh, and Fintastic Friends Dies. The images were adhered to the tri-fold card base to create the scene as shown. Bubbles from the same three stamp sets were stamped throughout the design with black ink and filled in with Glossy Accents to make them shiny and dimensional.
A greeting from the Fintastic Friends Stamp Set was stamped along the top edge of the card with Blue Jay Ink. A greeting from the Plane and Simple Stamp Set was stamped underneath with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
Details were added to the stamped images with black, white, and stardust glitter pens.
