Today I'm sharing a card idea I've had for awhile and I'm so excited to share with you. I've been loving creating cards with die cuts only, the only exception being a stamped greeting. (See THIS beach scene slider card featuring Lawn Fawn dies and THIS floral card featuring Lawn Fawn dies). I absolutely love the Picture Book Fox and Picture Book Bear dies from the latest Simon Says Stamp release and they are the stars of this black and white themed card that would be perfect for anyone but the colors and style would definitely make this a great masculine card (I know I always need good guy-style cards, don't you?!).
I knew I wanted the background white to keep the focus on the die cut images but I still wanted some texture and interest. I trimmed a piece of smooth white cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4" and applied white embossing paste through the Simon Says Stamp Grid Stencil for a messy, imperfect look. I set aside the background to dry completely and made sure to wash the stencil and palette knife with warm water right away so that the embossing paste didn't dry to the tools.
The Simon Says Stamp Sketch Frame, Picture Book Fo, Picture Book Bear, and Mini Hearts Dies were die cut from either Fog Cardstock, Smoke Cardstock, Slate Cardstock, or Lawn Fawn Black Licorice Cardstock. The images were assembled and adhered to the stenciled background as shown. Glossy Accents was applied to the animals' eyes and noses. The Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen was used on the hearts and they were finished with a layer of Glossy Accents as well.
Stick It was applied to both sides of a piece of Fun Foam and silver foil cardstock was adhered to one side. The Simon Says Stamp Wishing Die was die cut from the dimensional material making a dimensional sticker. The greeting was adhered below the die cut frame as shown, slightly overlapping the images. A sentiment phrase from the Sending and Wishing Stamp Set was stamped on black cardstock using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder before being cut into a thin strip and adhered below the dimensional greeting.
The panel was adhered to a white side fold card base to finish the design. A Metallic Silver Envelope is the perfect packaging for this black and white card!
