Today Simon Says Stamp has a brand new limited edition exclusive with Gina K, Warmer With You (this is the first year doing a collaboration with Gina and we are super excited about it!)! This awesome stamp set is perfect for creating holiday or winter themed cards. I am sharing a couple of masking techniques for my Christmas card share today. Let's get started!
I started with the Snowmen from the Warmer With You Stamp Set and stamped and masked them on a sheet of Bristol Smooth Cardstock. Keeping the masks in place, I stamped the trees from the stamp set using Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink. While the Distress Oxide Ink was still wet (it has pigment ink in it so it will stay wet longer) I added a layer of clear embossing powder over the top to seal in the color and create an additional "mask". The trees would have been really difficult to cut traditional masks for!
With all the images now masked, I added Wild Honey Distress Ink as a "sun" and Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Inks for the "blue sky". I buffed any remaining ink from the embossed areas of the trees and removed the paper masks.
A greeting from the Warmer With You Stamp Set was stamped along the bottom edge of the design as shown.
I colored in the snowmen images with Copic markers and created "snow" for them to sit in with the markers as well. The Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen was used for parts of the images and a black gel pen was used for the eyes and buttons on each snowman image.
The image was die cut using a Simon Says Stamp Basic Rectangles Die.
Snow was added to the scene using the Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow Stencil and white embossing paste.
Once the embossing paste was completely dry, a vellum frame was created using a Basic Rectangles Die and a Stitched Ovals Die. The sentiment was again stamped, this time with StazOn so that the part of the greeting that is covered up by the vellum frame is still legible and easy to read.
A frame was die cut using two Basic Rectangle Dies and all three layers were secured to a white side fold card base.
The design was finished with some ice chips glitter on the trees and on the ground around the snowmen and Glossy Accents on the snowmen's noses.
