Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp Making Spirits Bright Blog Hop!
The new release from Simon Says Stamp is all about holidays with awesome new Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas themed stamps, dies, and stencils! I am in love with the whole release and couldn't pick a favorite! I combined five new dies with a new stamp set for this Christmas-themed die cut scene card! I mean, new Picture Book Snowman, Deer, and Santa?!!!! I had to use them all, right?!!!
The background was lightly inked with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink, spritzed with water from a Distress Sprayer, blotted dry, and set aside to dry. I wasn't going for a lot of coverage here but instead a hint of color to really highlight my die cuts.
A border was die cut using the new Pine Needle Border. I lightly inked the die cut edge with Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Ink, keeping the majority of the ink on the die cut border. A sentiment from the Fa La La Stamp Set was stamped on the border with Lucky Ink.
The Picture Book Snowman, Santa, Deer, and Holly Trim were die cut from Lawn Fawn, Simon Says Stamp, and Neenah cardstock and pieced together as shown. I didn't have a flesh color cardstock so I instead die cut the santa face from white cardstock and colored it in with Copic Markers. I also added pink cheeks to the snowman! I find it easiest to run the larger die cut picture book die cut pieces through a Xyron Sticker Maker and then assemble them on my card. I adhered the tiny die cuts (eyes, noses, etc.) with a liquid adhesive like Glossy Accents.
The pine needle border was adhered along the bottom edge of the card.
For the greeting, I adhered a piece of gold foil cardstock to Fun Foam backed with Stick It and die cut it with the new Fa La La Dies. I adhered the dimensional greeting to the card and trimmed off the excess from each side.
I finished the card by adding white pen details to the die cuts and adding Glossy Accents to the noses and holly berries.
