I love the look of a spotlight on a card. There are many ways to achieve a spotlight and today I'm going to share a quick and easy way to create a spotlight scene card with a stenciled background. I absolutely adore the New Best Friend Stamp Set and coordinating dies from My Favorite Things. Isn't it cute? (There's kitties, too, for my cat-loving friends!)
On a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of smooth white cardstock, I die cut a Stitched Mod Rectangle from the panel as shown. I temporarily taped the die cut to the rest of the panel on the backside.
I used Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Ink and the MFT Drifts and Hills Stencil to create "grass" along the bottom edge of the panel. For the top of the scene, I stenciled Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink with the Mini Cloud Edges Stencil. I spritzed the whole thing lightly with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotted it dry.
A greeting from the New Best Friend Stamp Set was stamped with Onyx Black Versafine Ink and Candied Apple Distress Oxide Ink and set with clear embossing powder.
The outside panel was secured to a white top fold card base and then four white die cut Stitched Mod Rectangles were stacked one on top of another in the die cut opening and finished with the stenciled die cut on top. The dimension creates a "spotlight" to highlight this portion of the scene!
Images from the New Best Friend Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock, colored with Copic Markers, and die cut with the coordinating dies. The images were adhered to the scene as shown. Tufts of grass were drawn in with a Copic Marker.
The "woof" greeting was stamped on the background with Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink using first and second generation stamping and the card was finished with Glossy Accents on the dog's noses and the hearts.
