Hello friends! One of my favorite ways to create a background scene for a card is with stencils! Honey Bee Stamps has some amazing stencils that I love to mix and match to create the perfect backgrounds! I combined the cloud stencils from the Outdoor Scene Builder and the rays stencil from the Ocean Scene Builder for my card today. I've also taken a stamp image from the fall-themed Seasonal Sweeties and colored it to work for other seasons or holidays. The pinks and reds would work fantastic for Valentine's Day by switching up the greeting. The design and background was inspired by the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set greeting to create this encouragement style card.
A Bristol Smooth Cardstock background was inked with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide Ink using the cloud stencils from the Outdoor Scene Builder and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink using the Ocean Scene Builder rays die. I wanted it to appear the sun rays were shining through the clouds. I decided to go with a different color theme for my clouds instead of a traditional blue and I love the result!
Once inked, I spritzed the background with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotted it dry with a paper towel. A greeting from the Ray of Sunshine Stamp Set greeting and hearts from theSeasonal Sweeties stamp set were stamped on the background with black ink. The heats were colored in with a red Copic Marker.
The girl and dog with umbrellas image from the Seasonal Sweeties stamp set was stamped on smooth white cardstock with black ink and colored in with Copic Markers. Details were added to the design with white and black pens.
The Ray of Sunshine Die was die cut from a sandwich of Magenta Glitter Cardstock adhered to Fun Foam with Stick It and adhered to the design as shown.
Nuvo Crystal Glaze was applied to the hearts and rain boots to give them a shiny, glossy finish. Nuvo Crystal Drops in Rosewater were added throughout the design to finish the card.
