Today I wanted to share a Valentine's-themed card made from (mostly) non-Valentine's stamps. Getting more mileage out of our supplies is something I think all crafters aspire to. By combining elephant and mice images from the Elphie Selfie and Wild For You Stamp Sets, setting these cute critters against a pink Stitched Cloud Backdrop, and adding some red hearts I took images from everyday stamp sets and made them into the perfect Valentine's themed card! I just love these elephants, don't you?
To start this card, I die cut the Stitched Cloud Backdrop, from Bristol Smooth Cardstock, inked it with Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks and spritzed it with water from a Distress Sprayer to soften and distress the sky.
Cloud broders were die cut from smooth white cardstock and vellum using the Puffy Cloud Borders. The borders were adhered along the bottom edge of the card and greetings from Elphie Selfie and Happy Happy Happy Add On were stamped along the top of the card with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and Lawn Fawn Lobster Ink.
The elephants, mice, and flag banner from the Elphie Selfie and Wild For You Stamp Sets were stamped on smooth white cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and colored in with Polychromos Colored Pencils, blended with Gamsol and a Stump Pencil, and then die cut with the coordinating Elphie Selfie and Wild For You Dies.
the images were adhered to the scene as shown and detail was added to the elephants with a white gelly roll pen. A black gelly roll pen was used for the noses on the mice and a fine tip black pen was used to draw eyelashes on some of the critters.
Hearts from the Elphie Selfie and Wild For You Stamp Sets were stamped directly on the stitched cloud background with Versafine Onyx Black Ink, colored in with and finished with a layer of Nuvo Crystal Glaze.
The "xoxo" from the Stitched Heart Envelope Die Set was die cut from Silver Glitter Cardstock adhered to Fun Foam with Stick It Adhesive and adhered in the bottom right corner of the scene as shown.
The card was finished with a scattering of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Silver Moondust.
