Simon Says Stamp | You Da Best Picture Book Card (Best Days Release NOW AVAILABLE!)
Hello friends! Simon Says Stamp's latest release, Best Days is now available. This awesome new release is chock full of amazing new stamps, dies, stencils, and more! I used lots of new dies, stencil, and even a sentiment phrase from the release for this card featuring coloring Picture Book dies with Copic Markers.
For the background I inked up some Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Inks and the new Waves and Hills Stencil. I wanted somewhere to "ground" or tuck my Picture Book critters into without disrupting the background so I die cut a border from Bristol Smooth Cardstock using a Drifting Stitches Border. I inked the border up just like the background panel and adhered it to the bottom as shown.
The Picture Book Croc and Picture Book Walrus were die cut from Neenah Smooth White Cardstock and then colored in with Copic Markers instead of die cutting the images from multiple colors of cardstock and piecing them together! This was so quick and easy! Plus you get awesome shading and depth and dimension this way. So much fun!
I adhered the Croc and Walrus to my card, tucking them under the die cut border as shown. I did die cut the images from Black Licorice Cardstock for the eyes. I applied Glossy Accents to the eyes on both critters and the nose of the Walrus to really make them pop.
The You Da Best Die was die cut three times from smooth white cardstock and adhered one on top of another. The greeting shadow was die cut from vellum and the layered greeting was adhered on top before being placed on the card.
A sentiment from the Emphatic Stamp Set was stamped on Black Licorice cardstock with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder before being trimmed into a thin strip and adhered to the card.
I finished the design with a scattering of Nuvo Crystal Drops in Sea Breeze and Key Lime.
