Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp Friendly Frolic Blog Hop!
This latest release from Simon is absolutely incredible! Filled with tons of new Picture Book Dies (y'all know how much I love those!), stamps, dies, and sequins, there's a little something for everyone with this release! In addition to the Picture Book Dies, my favorites from this release are the Folk Dance Background Stamp (I love the previously released stencil, check out my cards HERE), Folk Dance Die, Leafy Frame Die, and Lotus Sketch Flower Stamps and Die (be sure to come back tomorrow for a card featuring this set!).
Today, I combined three of my favorite new Picture Book ocean critters with the new Uplifting Sentiments Stamp Set, Hero Arts Coral Fancy Dies, and Honey Bee Ocean Scene Builder Stencils for this sweet scene card!
To create the underwater color for my card, I inked Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Black Soot and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks to get the deep, dark color. I added rays of light filtering through the water with a Honey Bee Ocean Scene Builder Stencils and Lawn Fawn Yeti Pigment Ink. To soften the white ink, I went over it with the Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Ink tool.
Once the background inks were completely dry, sentiments from the Uplifting Sentiments Stamp Set were stamped at the top of the panel with clear embossing ink and heat set with white embossing powder. I love how the white greetings pop off the dark inked background!
The Picture Book Seahorse, Picture Book Fish, Picture Book Turtle, and Hero Arts Coral Fancy Dies were die cut from multiple shades of cardstock (individual colors used are linked below in supplies). The die cuts were inked with Distress Oxide Inks and paper pieced and assembled to the underwater scene as shown.
Details were added to the Picture Book dies with an opaque white pen (spots and highlights), black gel pen (eyes), and a fine tip black pen (eyelashes).
Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss White were added to the design for "bubbles" to complete the card.

Your videos are THE BEST! Love to see how you approach your designs and even handle smudges! I got some white gel pens after seeing you use them and struggle to keep them working. Also, I love the Picture Book Animal Dies but have trouble aligning all the pieces. You seem to have no problem I wish SSS would include a die to cut a background piece onto which we can assemble the pieces....they are so dang cute. Thanks, as always, for your sweet inspiration!

Your shading, and the little dots, are great. I have never thought of doing that, and my die cuts look flat. NICE JOB
