Today I'm sharing how a simple border scenes with two of my favorite stamp sets from the release, Hocus Pocus and Cookie Time. These cards feature a skinny inked border across the card where all the action takes place. This is a great way to reduce the area in which to fill on a card, leaving plenty of white space. Greetings are stamped underneath the border scene.
To give each inked background a bit of interest, I first inked the border strip (measuring 2 1/4" x 5 1/2") with two colors of ink and than spritzed them with water from a Distress Sprayer before blotting dry with a paper towel.
The Hocus Pocus card was inked with Wilted Violet and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks and the Cookie Time card inked with Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress Inks.
Images for both card were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black Ink, colored in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, and die cut with the coordinating dies.
Stars from the Hocus Pocus stamp set were stamped over the purple/black border with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with Black Sparkle Embossing Powder. This adds another layer of interest and fun to this sweet scene.
Adding a touch of color to the sentiments on both cards, provides a bit of interest to the white space below the border strip scene.
Nuvo Crystal Drops in White Blizzard adorn some of the images in both scenes to complete the designs.
