Creative blocks can be a pain to work through. I tend to get them when I've been away from my supplies for several days but it can happen anytime. Nothing is worse than when you have time to create and you sit and stare at your supplies! Creative blocks happen to everyone and one of my favorite ways to get past them is to create a card based on another card. Most of the time I will make a card based on one of my past cards that I love. It's always a good way of working through a block. Another way is to create a card inspired by a friend or designer. Today I wanted to share a card created using a design that my friend, Jennifer McGuire, made awhile back (HERE). Please remember whenever you create a card lifted or inspired by another designer that you give credit to that designer and that you ask permission to share. :) I'm sharing a single design here today but if you want to see lots and lots of amazing alcohol lift ink designs, please be sure to check out Jennifer's blog post HERE. Thanks Jennifer!

Let's start with these darling Critter Sweaters! The images from the Critter Sweaters dies were die cut from smooth white cardstock, their faces stamped with the coordinating Critter Sweaters images and then colored with Copic Markers and customized with the Critter Sweaters borders stamps. On the polar bear I stamped the sweater with Simon Says Stamp Smoke and Lipstick Red inks. For the cat and bunny I stamped the borders over the copic coloring with clear embossing ink and heat set with white embossing powder. How much fun are these dies and stamps?!!!! I couldn't pick between the three cute critters and used all three for my card!
A 1 3/4" x 4 1/4" border was trimmed from smooth white cardstock and adhered to the bottom of the trees background. The critter sweaters were adhered to the card. A sentiment border was die cut from Lawn Fawn Black Licorice cardstock using a new Holiday Words On A Line die.
Additional sentiments from the Tiny Words Christmas Stamp Set were stamped on Lawn Fawn Chili Pepper Cardstock using clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder, trimmed into thin strips, and adhered to the design with foam adhesive as shown.
This Winter Scene in miniature is so cute! I stamped the images from Winter Scene on smooth white cardstock with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink, colored in the images with Copic Markers (including the night sky on the background), and die cut the images with the coordinating Winter Scene Dies.
The background was created by stamping the Outline Snowflakes background stamp on smooth white cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder. Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks were applied over the embossing for embossed resist and the background was adhered to a white top fold card base. The center of the circles were embellished with Nuvo Crystal Drops in White Blizzard for a glittery finish.
Sentiment phrases from Winter Scene were stamped on Lawn Fawn Black Licorice cardstock using clear embossing ink, heat set with white embossing powder, trimmed into thin strips, and adhered to the scene with foam adhesive. "Merry" from the Ornamental Stamp Set was stamped with clear embossing ink on smooth white cardstock, heat set with Hero Arts Red Embossing Powder, die cut with the coordinating Ornamental Die, and adhered to the card as shown.
Greetings from the Ornamental Stamp Set were stamped along the bottom edge with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
Three ornaments from the Ornamental Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder before being inked with Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple, and Wilted Violet Distress Inks. Additional images from ornamental were stamped and embossed on each ornament and the images were "hung" from the card panel with foam adhesive and gold thread. Gold bows were glued to the top of each and Nuvo Crystal Drops in White Blizzard were scattered throughout the design.
I can't wait to see what you all create with the stamps, dies, stencils, and watercolor cards from the Fun & Festive Release! Happy Crafting!

Hello friends! Today I'm sharing some embellished Frappe Cards customized with numbers for a couple of my favorite soon-to-be eighteen year olds who love the local tea place. It's so easy to customize with any age or occasion. My favorite thing about these cute cards is the whipped "topping" and sprinkles. Aren't shaped cards fun!!!
V I D E O T U T O R I A L
Watch the creation of these Frappe shaped gift card holder cards from start to finish below or click HERE to watch in HD:
All the components of the Frappe Card except for the straw were die cut from Bristol Smooth Cardstock. The straw was die cut from green cardstock. The lid of the cup was inked with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and the "contents" of the cup were inked using Gathered Twigs and Ground Espresso Distress Ink and then spritzed with water from a Distress Sprayer and blotted dry with a paper towel.
The "whipped topping" was created by adding Marvy Snow Marker to the die cut, heating it with a heat tool and adding "sprinkles" in the form of Coffee Bean Tiny Bubbles.
The lid, whipped topping, straw, and drink pieces were adhered to the card bases as shown.
The numbers were die cut from gold foil cardstock using the Bee Bold Numeric Dies and glued in place as shown.
Greetings from the Enjoy Stamp Set were stamped on part of the cup lid using clear embossing ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. The piece was adhered to foam adhesive.
Candy Hearts in Kiss Me were glued to the lid and next to the numbers for a pop of color and to finish the card fronts.
The Gift Card Pocket was die cut from vellum and assembled with 1/8" Scor Tape. Sentiments from the Shake It Off Stamp Set were stamped on the front of the pocket with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with gold and red embossing powders. The pocket was glued in place, ready for a gift card!

As excited as I am about the two new Leading Ladies this month, I am just as excited about fantastic dies that make scene building a breeze! The new Snowfall Backdrop Die and Winter Window Dies as well as a stencil and Distress Inks were used to create the indoor gift wrap scene with a window to the falling snow outdoors!
A piece of smooth white cardstock was inked with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and the Tim Holtz Slate Stencil. I masked off the bottom 3/4" of the panel for the "floor" and inked it with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. The Winter Window Dies was die cut from the "wall" so I could create an inlay. The new Snowfall Backdrop Die was die cut from smooth white cardstock, trimmed to fit in the space die cut by the Winter Window and inked with Mermaid Lagoon and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks. The trees and snowy hills from the new Winter Window Dies were die cut from smooth white cardstock. The trees were inked with Forest Moss and Walnut Stain Distress Ink and the images were adhered over the falling snow as shown. The icicles were die cut from Lawn Fawn Pixie Dust Sparkle paper and adhered to look like ice hanging from the house. The window was inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, layered over another die cut window and adhered over the snowy scene to complete the background.
Images from the Holiday Shopper Lady and the Bookworm Lady stamp sets were stamped on smooth white cardstock, die cut with the coordinating Holiday Shopper Lady Dies and Bookworm Lady Dies and adhered to the scene as shown. "Ho Ho Ho" from the Ugly Sweater Accessories Stamp Set was stamped on the Holiday Shopper Lady sweater with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. White pen detail was added to images throughout the design to customize wrapping paper, clothing, etc.
A sentiment from the Holiday Shopper Lady Stamp Set was stamped inside the card to complete the design.
