I'm so super excited to share today's project with you. I am addicted to felt this season. I know this is the first felt project you're seeing here on the blog this holiday season but I've got more coming soon so be sure to subscribe to my blog HERE or check back regularly!
These felt tags are fantastic in that they make a gorgeous presentation on a package but can be used by the recipient after the gift has been opened as a pretty ornament or decoration!
Even though these Mama Elephant dies aren't necessarily made for stitching projects, I wanted to show how you can take regular dies and make them extraordinary with some pretty felt, sequins, seed beads, and a little string. Let's get started!

Watch the creation of these felt snowflake ornament tags from start to finish below or click HERE to watch in HD:
Tags and snowflakes were die cut from felt (I used Taylored Expressions felt I have in my stash but you can use any high quality felt) using the Scallop Tags Trio Dies and Flurries Dies. Each tag is two tags, adhered back to back after stitching a snowflake to one side. If you want to make the ornaments two-sided, adorn each side with a snowflake before attaching them back to back.
I stitched a Flurries snowflake to a tag using a combination of Hero Arts Snow & Berry sequins (snowflakes and red sequins), Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear 4mm Sequins, and Pretty Pink Posh Shimmer Sparkle Seed Beads. I used embroidery floss to adorn and sew the seed beads and sequins to each tag. Sewing not your thing? Glue the felt together instead! You could even glue sequins to the snowflakes!
To give each tag a bit more stability and also to hide the stitching on the back, I hot glued tags back-to-back.
To finish each tag, I stamped "to/from" from the Mini Messages Stamp Set on a die cut Mini Tag using clear embossing ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder. The tag were threaded together with some pretty twine.
Once you've given the gift, the recipient can cut off the "to/from" tag and they're left with a beautifully embellished ornament!
