Welcome to Day 6 (the final day) of my last minute Handmade Holiday 2018 Series!
I'm back with my fifth year of last minute handmade ideas! Five years, you guys. Wow. Thank you so much for your support of this series. I have been overwhelmed and almost considered not doing the series this year but I kept getting emails and comments asking for it so I sat down to make a list of projects I could do and I got really excited. So this series is for you crafting friends. I appreciate each and every one of you and y'all make this possible. Much love to everyone.
The goal of this series is adding handmade touches to gifts for our friends and family. Even with the craziness of the season I like to be able to personalize the gifts under our tree. Over the next couple of weeks I'll be sharing mostly quick (an hour or less) Handmade Holiday ideas for cards, tags and gift wrapping sure to add that handmade touch we all love. Most ideas will include multiples (today I created lots and lots of felt tags and ornaments)!
Each Handmade Holiday project blog post will feature a brand new, never before seen project(s) plus an incredible giveaway from a generous sponsor!
FELT STITCHED ORNAMENT GIFT TAGS WITH STAMPED GIFT BOXES
Last year I created a set of paper tags with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Ornaments Gift Tags adorned with Nuvo Crystal Drops. You can see those HERE. Those ornaments were the inspiration behind this years tag ornaments even though they couldn't be any different. What I love about crafting is how the same supplies can be used completely differently for new and unique looks. I'm sharing some flat "hot glued" gift tag ornaments as well as how to created polyester fiberfill stuffed plush ornaments with "non-stitching dies". While I generally try to keep the projects more on the quick and easy side, these are another set of tags that take a bit longer to make. I couldn't stop at just one or two.... and I couldn't not make gift boxes for the two sets of ornament tags! Wouldn't these make awesome gifts in and of themselves?!!!!
The video is long but it's basically 3 projects in one. Felt Gift Tags, Felt Plush Ornaments, and Stamped Embellished Gift Boxes. I hope you have enjoyed this series as much as I've enjoyed bringing it to you!
Merry Christmas!

We are going to start with these felt gift tag ornaments. I used the Winter Tiny Tags for the majority of the tags but also used the medium size Stitched Ornament Die for variety. The great thing about all these dies is that they already have a hole in the top making them perfect for gift tags! The Lawn Fawn Stitched Snowflakes and Mini Snowflakes perfectly adorn these felt tags.
The Winter Tiny Tags, Stitched Ornaments, Stitched Snowflakes, and Mini Snowflakes were die cut from felt. I'm using a red/black/white/gray color combo this year but you can do them in any color combination that works with your gift packaging!
Sequins and seed beads were used to embellish both sides of all pieces (except for the mittens where I only did the top of each) and then the pieces were hot glued back-to-back. this gives each a more finished look.
To sew sequins/seed beads on I used two strands of embroidery floss, came up from the back of the piece in the center and added a snowflake sequin, a regular sequin and finished with a seed bead. I wrapped the needle/floss around the seed bead and went back through the center of the sequins and the back of the piece, repeating the process for all the sequins. The seed beads "anchor" each sequin in place! This is a super quick and easy way to embellish your felt pieces. The plethora of sequins and seed beads I have from making shaker cards comes in so handy!
I like to add a simple paper tag with my felt ornament tags. Something that looks nice tied onto a package but that I didn't spend tons of time on because it's easily discarded by the recipient and they can keep the felt ornament to use as decoration.
I die cut multiple Say What Gift Tags from smooth white cardstock, stamped them with "to/from" and "a gift for you" from the Say What Christmas Critters Stamp Set using Chili Pepper or Manatee Inks and then threaded a paper tag with a felt ornament tag using Lawn Fawn Red Sparkle or Silver Sparkle Lawn Trimmings Twine.
Want to give a set of ornament tags or handmade ornaments as a gift? The Lawn Fawn Gift Box provide the perfect presentation! I added some simple stamping to the box lid, decorative corners, a removable felt bow, and even a tiny, tiny felt ornament to really customize the Gift Box.
The lid of each Gift Box was die cut from Chili Pepper Cardstock and stamped with the Lawn Fawn Gingham Backdrops Stamp and Black Licorice Ink. I love the look of buffalo check plaid.
The bottom of the Gift Box was die cut from smooth white cardstock.
The lid corners were die cut from Black Licorice Cardstock and glued in place as shown.
The bow pieces were die cut from felt and assembled with hot glue. The bow was slid onto the box.
A tiny Stitched Ornament was created from felt and added to each box to tie it all together.
The Stitched Ornaments large die makes the perfect plush ornaments. I adorned each side with a Mini Wreath sewn on with sequins/seed beads and filled each ornament with polyester filberfill for a plush ornament. These can be given as ornaments in the Gift Box or used as gift tags by adding a simple tag like I show below.
The Stitched Ornament pieces and Mini Wreaths were die cut from felt. Each side of the ornament was adorned with a wreath sewn on with sequins and seed beads. A bow was hot glued in place.
The two sides of each ornament were placed back-to-back and whipstitched together, leaving a small opening to fill with polyester filberfill. The top of each ornament was secured with hot glue and the contrasting ornament topper.
Snowflake Winter Tiny Tags were die cut from smooth white cardstock, stamped with "to/from" from the Say What Christmas Critters Stamp Set and thread with a felt plush ornament using Red Sparkle Lawn Trimmings Twine. The set of four ornaments was placed in a Gift Box.
