Welcome to the Simon Says Stamp DieCember Release Blog Hop!
DieCember is a month-long celebration at Simon Says Stamp where we celebrate all things die cutting! Creating all die cut cards has never been easier with all the incredible dies available to us these days and the DieCember Release from Simon is chock full of amazing designs for the holidays and every day! I am using lots and lots of new dies (and even some from previous releases) for these holiday thank you cards.

Both of my cards today feature an inlay-style background with the new Holiday Knit Background Die. The main panel was die cut from Simon Says Stamp Fog Cardstock and then the inlay pieces were die cut from Gina K Red Velvet Cardstock and Lawn Fawn Noble Fir Cardstock. The inlay was made easy by backing the panel with Stick It Adhesive first. This not only makes the inlay super easy but provides adhesive for adhering the entire panel to my card base. Once the inlay was complete I added the background panel to a top or side fold card base. A beautiful background is really what makes these adorable Picture Book animals shine!
If inlay isn't your thing, try trimming a contrasting color of cardstock down to 4" x 5 1/4" and placing it behind the Holiday Knit Background Die for a similar look!
The Big Picture Book Panda card was created with the Big Picture Book Panda, Big Picture Book Medium Body, and the Picture Book Santa Pup (hat) dies. The panda was die cut from Black Licorice Cardstock and smooth white cardstock. The hat from Gina K Red Velvet Cardstock and White Glitter Cardstock.
Glossy Accents was added to the panda's nose for a bit of shine and dimentsion. Once dry, a highlight was added on top with a white opaque pen.
The panda is holding Candy Canes die cut using Gina K Red Velvet Cardstock, White Glitter Cardstock, and red Holiday Sparkle Cardstock. I love how many of the Picture Book bodies are perfect for holding something in their arms. This design can easily be changed to another season, holiday, or occasion by removing the hat and switching up what the panda is holding!
A sentiment from the Punny Animals Stamp Set was stamped on Lawn Fawn Noble Fir Cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat set with white embossing powder before being die cut with a new Nested Banners Die and adhered to the design with foam adhesive. Die cutting the banner from Lawn Fawn Noble Fir Cardstock brings out the green of the background inlay and ties the whole design together.
The Picture Book Santa Cat card was design much the same as the first card, only I turned the background for a landscape card.
The Picture Book Santa Cat and Big Picture Book Little Body were die cut from Simon Says Stamp Smoke Cardstock, Slate Cardstock, Lawn Fawn Ballet Slippers Cardstock, Black Licorice Cardstock, Gina K Red Velvet Cardstock, and White Glitter Cardstock. The cat was assembled as shown. Glossy Accents was added to the nose and a white pen was used to add highlights to the eyes.
Christmas Icons were die cut from Gina K Red Velvet Cardstock, White Glitter Cardstock, green Holiday Sparkle Cardstock, and Lawn Fawn Noble Fir Cardstock. The tree and candy cane were tucked in the cat's arms.
The Thank You Script was die cut from smooth white cardstock adhered to Fun Foam with Stick It Adhesive and adhered to the right of the cat as shown. A sentiment from the Punny Animals Stamp Set was stamped on Lawn Fawn Noble Fir Cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat set with white embossing powder before being die cut with a new Nested Banners Die and adhered to the design with foam adhesive.
