I love the look of the Stitching Tree from THIS POST so much that I wanted to try another take on it, this time on a patterned paper background with a pom pom trim garland! The result is a beautiful elegant Christmas Thank You card, created quickly and easily with components from the January SSS Card Kit! The patterned paper, pom poms, white thread, needle, and stamps all come from the kit!
I started the card by die cutting the Echo Park Celebrate Winter patterned paper from the January Kit with my favorite Simon Says Stamp Frames Die. The paper was trimmed to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 before die cutting.
The thin frame was discarded and die cut again from Silver Glitter Cardstock.
From the center rectangle, the Stitching Tree die was used to die cut the holes for stitching. I used white/silver crochet thread from my stash (I get mine at Hobby Lobby back with the yarn on an endcap). I stiched the tree with a zig zag type of stitch to "fill in" the design as much as possible. I love how the white/silver shows up so well against the blue on blue background.
Next, I threaded the white thread from the January Kit on a needle and came up from the back of the tree panel. I threaded on a small white pom pom and went back through one of the Stitching Tree holes. I repeated this process throughout the tree, adding more pom poms as the tree widens near the bottom. I sewed at a diagonal to give the look of a garland on the tree. I love the way the pom poms decorate the tree! Snow much fun!
The outer frame was adhered directly to the top fold card base. The silver glitter cardstock frame was glued in place directly on the card base and the background was finished by adding the Stitching Tree panel with foam adhesive.
Holiday Mix gemstones were glued in place in the center of some of the snowflakes to add more sparkle and elegance to the design.
The card was finished by stamping "thanks" from the Snow Much stamp set below the tree with clear embossing ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder.
On the inside of the card another sentiment from the Snow Much stamp set was stamped with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
