Coloring directly on stamps is one of my favorite techniques. It gives multi-color results that create that wow factor on cards. I especially love this technique with background stamps. The Rose Lattice Background included in the February 2019 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit is perfect for this technique. I colored the roses and leaves on the backgrounds with Tombow Dual Brush Markers and stamped the design on Cotton Candy cardstock for this beautiful, romantic background. When I decided to die cut a heart from the original background, I knew I didn't want it to go to waste so I created a second card centered around that die cut!
Once completely inked, I die cut a Nested Hearts Die from the background panel and layered another piece of Cotton Candy cardstock behind the die cut. I set aside the die cut stamped heart for my second card. A greeting from the Love Always Stamp Set was colored with the Tombow Markers as well and stamped on the background panel. The Rose Lattice Background was popped up over the greeting panel with foam adhesive for a bit of dimension.
The pink Tombow Dual Brush Markers were used to color Ivory Cardstock and then die cut additional hearts for the design using the Nested Hearts Dies. By using the markers, I was able to get heart accents that match perfectly! I stamped a heart from the Love Always Stamp Set on one of the hearts with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. From the colored cardstock I also stamped a small phrase with clear embossing ink, heat set with white embossing powder, trimmed into a thin strip and adhered to the card as shown.

I started the design by stamping greetings from the Love Always Stamp Set in the center of the Ivory Cardstock panel using Simon Says Stamp Twirling Tutu and Merlot inks. A floral design was stamped above and below the greetings using Fossil Ink. The florals were colored in with Polychromos Colored Pencils. I used the following color combinations:
Red Roses: Red Violet, Burnt Carmine, Pink Carmine
Pink Roses: Fuschia, Pink Madder Lake, Light Magenta
Leaves: Deep Cobalt Green, Pine Green, Chromium Green Opaque
The music notes border from the Love Always Stamp Set was stamped over the entire background using second generation stamping with the Twirling Tutu Ink. Hearts from the stamp set were stamped with Merlot Ink. The panel was adhered to one of the black notecards from the kit.
Glossy Accents was applied to parts of the flowers and the Unicorn Dust Glitter from the kit was applied to the design. Glossy Accents was added to hearts and set aside to dry.

Today I'm combining a new Wild Meadow floral border image with a Frienship Sentiments greeting for this bright and beautiful floral card!
I started the design by stamping a greeting from the Friendship Sentiments Stamp Set across the center of a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Bristol Smooth Cardstock panel with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. The flower border from the Wild Meadow Stamp Set was stamped above and below the greeting, creating a nice strip that frames up the sentiment.
The floral borders were colored in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and the background was secured to a white side fold card base.
An additional greeting from the Wild Meadow Stamp Set was stamped on smooth white cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink, trimmed with scissors, and popped up over the top flower border with foam adhesive as shown.
Lawn Fawn Prisma Glitter was applied to a few of the flowers using Glossy Accents. Nuvo Crystal Drops in Morning Dew were scattered throughout to complete the design.

This is just a fantastic set of dies that work for so many occasions and holidays, not just Valentine's Day or love. I did create one love-themed card but the other card is for a best friend. I hope these examples jump start your creativity with this amazing set of dies.
Both of my cards feature the hearts from the January 2019 Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Club Kit Dies used with the vines and flowers. Both feature a stamped (or stamped and embossed) tone-on-tone background, and both feature a red and white color combination. That's where the similarity ends, though. I wanted to show the versatility of the Large Die of the Month and also how awesome this set of dies is!
The heart shape die was die cut from the 4" x 5 1/4" background. The heart was adhered directly to the white top fold card base. The rest of the panel was popped up with foam adhesive.
The hearts from the January 2019 Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Club Kit Dies were die cut from Lawn Fawn Chili Pepper cardstock to create a frame. Vines from the die set were also die cut from the red cardstock and adhered to the back of the frame to make a beautiful decorated vine heart. The frame was adhered to the top panel as shown.
Flowers from the die set was die cut from smooth white cardstock using both flower sizes and adhered to the heart and finished with Honey Bee Stamps Moonlight rhinestones.
A sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Stained Glass Love Stamp Set was stamped on smooth white cardstock with Lawn Fawn Lobster Ink, trimmed into a thin strip and adhered to the card to finish the design.
For my second card share today I stamped a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Lawn Fawn Chili Pepper Cardstock with Chili Pepper Ink and the Simon Says Stamp Damask Background. I absolutely love this background and how elegant it is! I want to make this background in all the colors!
The heart shape die was die cut from the 4" x 5 1/4" background. The heart was adhered directly to the white top fold card base. Greetings from the Simon Says Stamp Bestie and Tiny Words stamp sets were stamped on the frame panel with clear embossing powder and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The panel was popped up with foam adhesive.
Paper doll dies from the January 2019 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club Kit Dies were die cut from smooth white cardstock (face and arms) and colored with Copic Markers, patterned papers (clothing), cardstock (hair, cheeks, balloon, and hair). The hair was also shaded with Copic Markers. The doll was assembled and adhered to the card with foam adhesive. The heart balloon die was stamped with a sentiment from the Bestie Stamp Set with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The arms were wrapped around the balloon and the entire thing was adhered to the doll.
Flowers and vines were die cut from patterned papers, vellum, and white glitter cardstock before being adhered to the heart frame. The center of the flowers were finished with Honey Bee Stamps Moonlight Rhinestones and Be Mine Candy Hearts were used to finish the card.

Happy Friday! I am so, so, so excited to finally share with you my cards featuring the January 2019 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Club Kit Dies! This month'sFirst Crushsmall die set is perfect for making cards, decor, and more. I was a paper doll loving little girl and it appears I still loving them! I created two cards for you today showing just a little of what you can do with the January Small DOM. I hope this jump starts your creativity with this month's kit!
Exclusive Set of Small Versatile Dies that cut, emboss, deboss and stencil. Size is similar to Die D-Lites.
Project Inspiration: Each kit will feature project ideas with at least one detailed how-to instruction tutorial each month.
Member Benefits & Savings:Receive exclusive member pricing in the Spellbinders store. Plus receive access to deals, savings, and gifts - only available to members.
Cost of the club kit is $12.50 plus shipping each month.
Both of my cards today feature inked and stenciled backgrounds that really showcase the adorable First Crush Small Die of the Month die cut images. Shading to the skin and hair was added with Copic Markers, clothing was die cut from small print patterned papers, and greetings were added to each using an assortment of sentiment stamps.
The backgrounds for both cards were inked with Distress Inks. The pink-on-pink card was inked with Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress Inks and then stenciled with the Simon Says Stamp Reverse Heart Stencil and Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. I love the addition of tone-on-tone stenciling or stamping for backgrounds as a subtle addition to a die cut heavy card! Keeps the bulk to a minimum but still adds to the overall look and appeal!
The coral background was created the same way only using Abandoned Coral and Dried Marigold Distress Inks and again using the Simon Says Stamp Reverse Heart Stencil.
The face, arms, and leg dies from the January Small DOM for the pigtailed girl were die cut from smooth white cardstock and colored in with the E00, E11, E13 Copic Markers. Her hair was die cut from Lawn Fawn Chocolate Bar Cardstock and Copic Markers in E49, E47, and E57 were used to feather in the texture. Starting with a base color cardstock made the shading super quick and easy!
The girl's outfit was die cut from Doodlebug 6x6 patterned paper from my stash. I assembled the girl image and added highlights to her eyes and shoes with a white opaque pen.
The balloons from the January Small DOM were die cut from Simon Says Stamp Cotton Candy and Doll Pink cardstock and Gina K Passionate Pink Cardstock. The balloon "strings" were die cut from Simon Says Stamp Smoke Gray Cardstock. Sentiments from The Stamp Market Bear Hugs Stamp Set and Simon Says Stamp Uplifting Sentiments Stamp Set were stamped on two of the balloons with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
The die cut images were assembled and adhered as shown and the card was finished with a scattering of Honey Bee Hug Me Candy Heart embellishments.
The face, arms, and leg dies from the January Small DOM for both the boy and girl were die cut from smooth white cardstock and colored in with the E00, E11, E13 Copic Markers. The boy's hair was die cut from Lawn Fawn Chocolate Bar Cardstock and Copic Markers in E49, E47, and E57 were used to feather in the texture. The girl's hair was die cut from Lawn Fawn Vanilla Malt Cardstock and Copic Markers in E31 and E55 were used to feather in the texture.
The boy and girl's outfits was die cut from Doodlebug 6x6 patterned paper from my stash. I assembled the boy and girl images and added highlights to their eyes and shoes with a white opaque pen.
I used the Large Die of the Month Club Kit Dies (bouquet wrapper, stems, bow, and flowers) to die cut a bouquet for the girl to hold! I love how seamlessly the two kits can work together! If you love getting lots of options each month you might consider the Die Hard Value Club (it's the Large and Small DOM kits each month for only $30 + shipping). The bouquet paper was die cut from double sided 6x6 patterned paper from my stash, the stems die cut from Simon Says Stamp Green Leaf Cardstock, and the flowers and bow die cut from Simon Says Stamp Lipstick Red Cardstock.
The bouquet was assembled and adhered to the girl. The flowers were adorned with Pretty Pink Posh Shamrock Jewels in the center of each.
Greetings from the Simon Says Stamp Love Messages Stamp Set were stamped on the background with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Hearts from the set were stamped with Abandoned Coral Distress Ink.
The boy and girl were adhered to the background and the design was finished with a scattering of Honey Bee Stamps Candy Hearts in Be Mine.

Not only did I stamp these fun fruit filled card fronts but I stamped coordinating envelopes as well. The addition of the stamped envelopes really completes the design and adds to the overall appeal of this fun set!
Everything on these card fronts was stamped in a single layer except for the small phrase stamped and embossed on colored cardstock and popped up underneath the "thank you".
The Flourish Background was stamped on smooth white cardstock using Barely Beige Ink. I purposely used a very light ink to add a light background design.
The "thank you" from the Fruit From the Heart Stamp Set was stamped over the repeating pattern background with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. The smaller phrase was stamped on Gina K Red Velvet Cardstock using clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The sentiment was trimmed into a thin strip and popped up with foam adhesive strips.
The "thank you" from the Fruit From the Heart Stamp Set was stamped over the repeating pattern background with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. The smaller phrase was stamped on Lawn Fawn Guava Cardstock using clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The sentiment was trimmed into a thin strip and popped up with foam adhesive strips.

Hello! I've been sharing some Valentine cards here recently and today I wanted to share an idea for a Valentine's gift bag. Y'all know how much I love creating gift tags, bags, and gift packaging around the holidays and I really like creating these pretties all year long! One of my personal favorite gift bags from the holiday season was THIS stenciled gift bag with monogram tag. I wanted to use that same Gift Bag with some of the new Valentine products for a love-themed gift bag and I absolutely love the results!

I can't stop using Mae the Mouse. I'm not really a mouse fan unless they are a stamp! ha! This little cutie is so perfect for hearts and flowers cards.
Click HERE to see a card I created with this same stamp set.
The Gift Bag was die cut from Fog Cardstock using the Gift Bag dies. Before adhering the two side together I added eyelets to the holes in the bag. I adhered the bag sides together with 1/4" Scor Tape. Wide yarn ribbon was thread through the holes and knotted on the inside to create handles on either side or the bag. The "tissue paper" for the inside of the bag was die cut from Woodgrain Cardstock and inserted into the gift bag.
Hearts were die cut from patterned paper and smooth white cardstock using the Stacking Hearts Dies and Scalloped Hearts Dies. The hearts were layered and adhered to the front of the gift bag using foam adhesive. The foam adhesive helps the large hearts lay nicely over the thick straps of the gift bag.
Mae the Mouse, a heart, rose, and envelope were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and colored in with ZIg Clean Color Real Brush Markers.
Mouse: Beige, Light Beige, Blender, Pink Haze
Envelope: Turquoise Green, Green Shadow, Blender, Red Carmine, Pink Flamingo
Heart: Peach Pink, Sugared Almond Pink, Blender
Rose: Red Carmine, Pink Flamingo, Blender, Light Green, Yellow Green
The images were die cut with the coordinating Mae the Mouse Dies and adhered to the front of the gift bag/hearts as shown.
Greetings from the Brie Mine Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock with Ballet Slippers and Guava Inks and die cut into a banner shape with the Banner Builder Dies. The banner was secured to the front of the bag to look like the mouse is holding the banner and Valentine's goodies.
Candy Hearts in Kiss Me and Hug Me were adhered to finish the design.

Y'all, the January Kit is amazing! Flower shop? Scene Building? Sign? I am IN! You guys know I'm all about scene cards. I could have created many, many cards with that flower shop window (I love it so much) but I kept it to two cards. I used sentiments from Add On Stamp Set for both flower shop windows. The Bursting With Love Bold Print was used for the background of the Valentine's Flower Shop card. The final card features the sign die from the Main Kit embellished with the Color Layering Waffles Stamp Set images, greetings from the You Are Loved Flourish Messages Stamp Set and Color Layering Waffles and finished with the champagne flute and orange slices from the Gal Pal Brunch Stamp Set. The tone-on-tone background was created with the Hearts and Flowers Bold Prints Background.
My first flower shop card was created by stenciling a smooth white background with a Tim Holtz Bricked Stencil and Hickory Smoke Distress Ink.
The images from the Main Kit were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock, colored in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, die cut with the coordinating dies, and adhered over the stenciled background as shown. The window was popped up with foam adhesive.
Hanging Planter: Blue, Light Blue, Green, Light Green
The square die cut from the window was inked with Cracked PIstachio Distress Ink, stamped with a greeting from the You Are Loved Flourish Stamp Set using clear ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The window was adhered directly to the card base for dimension.
A flourish from the You Are Loved Flourish Stamp Set Add On was stamped above the window with Hickory Smoke Distress Ink to finish the card.
That first flower shop was so much fun, I had to create a Valentine's shop complete with a bicycle for my next card share.
The background was inked with Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress Inks and then stamped with the new Bursting With Love Bold Prints background using the same two ink colors. I love a good tone-on-tone background, don't you?!!
The flower shop window, bicycle, balloons, flowers, planters, etc. from the Main Kit were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink, colored in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, and die cut with the coordinating Main Kit dies.
Window/Awning: Peach Pink, Sugared Almond Pink, Carmine Red, Light Carmine, Beige, Light Beige, Blender, Deep Brown
The window was inked with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink and stamped with a greeting from the All My Love Decorative Hearts Stamp Set with clear embossing ink and heat set with white embossing powder.
The awning was finished with Candy Hearts in white and red.
My final card share today features the awesome sign die from the Main Kit. The background for this card was inked with Festive Berries Distress Ink and then stamped with the Hearts and Flowers Bold Prints background using the same ink color for another tone-on-tone background.
The sign was die cut from Slate Cardstock and then the frame was die cut twice from smooth white cardstock. The slate background was stamped with sentiments from the Color Layering Waffles Stamp Set and You Are Loved Flourish Messages Stamp Set using clear embossing ink and heat embossing with white embossing powder.
Hero Arts Unicorn White Ink was swiped across the gray cardstock and then buffed off to help give the look of chalkboard art.
The frames were adhered one on top of another and then adhered over the chalkboard background.
Waffles: Hero Arts Butter Bar, Pumpkin Pie, Cup O'Joe
Strawberries: Hero Arts Strawberry, Black
Hearts from the Gal Pal Brunch were stamped on the chalkboard background with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
The champagne flute and oranges from Gal Pal Brunch were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink, colored in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, die cut with the coordinating dies, and adhered to the scene as shown.
Champagne flute: Orange, Pale Orange, Haze Blue, Blender
Oranges: Orange, Pale Orange, Bright Yellow, Pale Yellow

We just love how this brings us a warm and fuzzy feeling. The Here for You (stamp, die, combo) is designed by our fellow cardmaker and designer, JJ Bolton. The Favorite Valentine (stamp, die, combo), illustrated by Kamo, is the cutest for creating valentines for the classroom and beyond. We also included a 3x4 Spice Potstamp set for quick cards this month.
The two stand alone panel dies in this release were designed by JJ Bolton and they both work great with the Here For You Stamp Set. The Tile Panel (die) is a modern but classic pattern and is so versatile that it can be used for both feminine and masculine cards. The Painted Landscape (die) is a unique die that makes it easy to create a mountain landscape scene with depth and texture, all in one layer!

Today I'm sharing two different themed card created in the same color scheme: peachy red! Abandoned Coral and Dried Marigold is one of my favorite color combinations and it works just as beautifully for a non-traditional colored Valentine's card as it does for a thinking of you design. Both background were inked and then stenciled with the Simon Says Stamp Large Falling Hearts Stencil.
Both cards feature sentiments stamped with Abandoned Coral Ink rather than a black ink. This was a conscious decision to better coordinate with the overall look and feel of each card design.
The borders on the Valentine Card were created by inking plain white cardstock with Abandoned Coral Ink in order to perfectly match the inked and stenciled strip. The large heart die from the Favorite Valentine Die Set was die cut from the inked and stenciled panel and then inked over with Abandoned Coral for a solid heart that shows up more against the rest of the design. The heart was stamped with greetings from the Favorite Valentine Set using clear embossing ink and heat setting with white embossing powder. The heart was adhered directly to the card base and the rest of the panel was adhered with foam adhesive.
Images for both cards were colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. The images were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink, colored, and die cut with the coordinating Favorite Valentine and Group Hug dies.
Nuvo Crystal Drops in White Blizzard were used to embellish some of the hearts on the Valentine's card and Heart jewels were glued to each design for a bit of dimensional embellishment. A black gelly roll pen was used to add detail to eyes, noses, etc. on the images.
