Welcome to Day 1 of the Simon Says Stamp Make Merry Release Blog Hop!
The brand new Simon Says Stamp Make Merry Release is so incredible! You may be thinking, "girl, where's the holiday cards? It's called, Make Merry." Yes, the release is jam-packed with holiday but there are also some incredible brand new fall-themed products that I couldn't resist! (I will be sharing all the holiday things, soon!) Be sure to check out my video from yesterday HERE featuring the brand new Deco Hat Gnome, Mushroom House, Good Cheer Stamps and Dies, and All Snowflakes Background.
Today's cards feature using some of my favorite "fall" Distress Oxide Inks with the new Autumn Leaves Stamp Set, Falling Leaves Layering Stencils Set, and Thankful For You Dies for these beautiful fall cards! I also had to use the previously released Reverse Crackle Background. Just look at how incredible the leaves look against that crackle! So good, right?!!! Let's get started!

Watch the creation of these fall leaves cards from start to finish below or click HERE to watch in HD:
All three cards feature a crackle background. I stamped the Reverse Crackle Background on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of smooth white cardstock with either Simon Says Stamp Fossil or Khaki Ink. I purposely picked a nice, light ink that would showcase the beauty of the fall leaves I'll be inking with Distress Oxide Inks.
STENCILING OVER A CRACKLE BACKGROUND WITH DISTRESS OXIDES
Using the four layers of the Falling Leaves Layering Stencils Set, I added Distress Oxide Inks in the following color combinations:
- 1st layer: Crackling Campfire & Gathered Twigs
- 2nd layer: Crushed Olive & Forest Moss
- 3rd layer: Fossilized Amber & Gathered Twigs
- 4th layer: Gathered Twigs & Ground Espresso
There's a 5th stencil in the set but I didn't use it on this first card. We'll use it a bit later!
A sentiment was die cut from Gold Mirror Cardstock, Lawn Fawn Vanilla Malt Cardstock, Hero Arts Cranberry Cardstock, Lawn Fawn Canned Pumpkin Cardstock, Lawn Fawn No 2 Pencil Cardstock, Hero Arts Palm Cardstock, and Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate Cardstock. The sentiment was assembled according to the instructions in the video. I think the colorful fall rainbow adds so much to the sentiment, don't you?!!! So much more interesting then just a solid color and it ties the whole design together.
The card was finished with a Trinity Stamps Coffee Bean heat accent and a scattering of gold Nuvo Crystal Drops.
EMBOSSED RESIST AUTUMN LEAVES WITH DISTRESS OXIDES
Images from the Autumn Leaves Stamp Set were stamped on smooth white cardstock using clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The images were then inked with Distress Oxides in Crackling Campfire, Crushed Olive, Forest Moss, Fossilized Amber, Gathered Twigs, and Ground Espresso. Water from a Distress Sprayer was spritzed over the leaves for a bit of oxidation.
The images were die cut with the coordinating Autumn Leaves Dies and adhered to a crackle background as shown. The excess was trimmed from the edges.

TENCILING OVER A CRACKLE BACKGROUND AND ADDING GLITTER GEL
Using the four layers of the Falling Leaves Layering Stencils Set, I added Distress Oxide Inks in the following color combinations:

- 2nd layer: Crushed Olive & Forest Moss
- 3rd layer: Fossilized Amber & Gathered Twigs
- 4th layer: Gathered Twigs & Ground Espresso
The fifth stencil was placed over the image and a thin layer of Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel in White was spread over the design for a shimmery, glittery effect!
