Christmas In July | Hero Arts Holiday Pre-Release Card Showcase

Happy weekend! The Hero Arts Holiday 2021 Pre-Release is now available. The full release will be available mid-August but you can pick up the pre-release products right now! I'm taking several of my favorite products from the release and I created three holiday cards using no line coloring and the Karin Brushmarker Pro markers. Let's get started!

CHRISTMAS ROBINS CARD

The Hero Arts Buffalo Check Pattern Bold Prints was stamped on Lawn Fawn Paper Bag Cardstock with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. The background was splattered with Picket Fence Distress Paint and allowed to air dry.

A greeting from the Hero Arts Christmas Robins Stamp Set was stamped on the panel with embossing & watermark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Images from the Hero Arts Christmas Robins Stamp Set were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Lawn Fawn Jellyfish Ink and colored in with the following Karin Brushmarker Pro markers:

• Robins: Copper Brown, Almond, Cocoa, Sandstone, Blender, Warm Gray 1
• Birdhouse: Neutral Gray 1, Black, Cocoa, Sandstone, Blender, Burgundy, Red, Olive Black, Olive Green
• Branches: Olive Black, Olive Green, Lime Green, Burdundy, Red

The images were die cut with the coordinating Hero Arts Christmas Robins Dies and adhered to the card with hemp twine and foam adhesive.

Another greeting was stamped on smooth white cardstock using the Hero Arts Christmas Holidays Stamp & Cut. The greeting was die cut with a Sentiment Labels Die and adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

A sprinkling of snowflake embellishments finish the design.

YouTube LIVE: No Line Coloring In Real Time (Lawn Fawn Duh-nuh Scene Card)

Happy Friday! One of the videos I get asked for the most is real time no line coloring. I've also been asked to share more Lawn Fawn videos so we're doing both! Today I thought it would be fun to spend some time coloring some cute Lawn Fawn underwater critters and create a couple of fun scene cards!

A 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of smooth white cardstock was inked with Mermaid Lagoon and Prize Ribbon Distress Oxide Inks. The background panel was spritzed with water from a Distress Sprayer and allowed to air dry.

The Hero Arts Fancy Cuts Swirling Tide Border was die cut from smooth white cardstock and inked with the same Distress Oxide Inks. Greetings from the Lawn Fawn Duh-Nuh Stamps/Dies and Lawn Fawn Duh-Nuh Flip Flop Stamps/Dies were stamped on the background with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. 

The images from the stamp sets listed above were stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Lawn Fawn Jellyfish No Line Coloring Ink and colored in with the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers:

• Jellyfish (not shown in video, colored after Livestream): Purple, Pink Haze
• Fish: Mustard, Pale Yellow
• Sharks: Gray, Pale Gray, Haze Blue, Blender
• Rock: Mid Brown, Beige

The coral and heart were stamped with Lawn Fawn Lobster Ink and the seaweed was stamped with Lawn Fawn Artichoke Ink.

All the images were die cut with the coordinating dies and adhered to the scene as shown.

The card was finished with a scattering of clear hearts and droplets!

L I V E S  F A Q S

Currently I am doing a Friday morning Lives at 9 am CT. I adding a once monthly evening Live the last Monday of the month at 7 p.m CT. Replays will be on my YouTube Channel.

I have a few requests to edit the Lives. Currently I am not going to edit them. This is for a couple of reasons:

1) Lives are new to me and we are going to stick with this format for a bit. I personally love Lives. I haven't watched an edited Live so I reserve the right to reconsider in the future if I think it's something I can fit in my schedule.

2) I don't want to spend the precious hours I have for creating new content, editing a Live. I will be bringing the exact same amount of traditional content and videos to my channel. Lives/replays are in addition to that content.

A Gnome For All Seasons: Camping Gnomes

A GNOME FOR ALL SEASONS CARD - CAMPING GNOME (MAY)

The background of the slimline card was die cut from a 12x12 Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes Patterned Paper with a Slimline Nested Rectangles Die. I used a 12x12 sheet because I didn't want to piece together 6x6 patterned papers for the slimline style.

The Honey Bee Camp Trailer Card was die cut from several patterned papers from my stash: yellow, aqua, heart are all Doodlebug, gray and black are from Honey Bee Stamps Farm Fresh Holiday.

Doodlebug Washi Tape (from my stash) was added to the trailer for added interest.

Greetings from the Simon Says Stamp Chillin' Gnomes Stamp Set were stamped in two places on the trailer (the door and above the window) using Tim Holtz Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Ink.

The Simon Says Stamp Friend Die was die cut from a Doodlebug pink patterned paper and adhered above the stamped phrase above the window as shown.

The Simon Says Stamp Lil Gnome was die cut from smooth white cardstock and an aqua Doodlebug Patterned Paper. The beard was shaded with W1 and W3. The nose was colored with E11 & E13. The Lil' Gnome was tucked behind the window and the camper was adhered to the card as shown.

The Simon Says Stamp She Gnome was die cut from smooth white cardstock, Doodlebug Patterned Papers in pink and aqua), and Honey Bee Stamps Fresh Brewed (hair). The nose was colored with E11 & E13.

The Simon Says Stamp Gnome was die cut from smooth white cardstock and Honey Bee Stamps Sweet On You patterned paper (hat and outfit). The beard was shaded with W1 and W3. The nose was colored with E11 & E13.

Hearts were scattered throughout the card and used for decoration in the center of the wheel. White Gem Stickers were added to the trailer.

Copic Markers in the following colors were used to color in the books:

Pink: RV52, RV55

Red: R24, R46

Orange: YR04, YR07

Yellow: Y08, Y17

Green: YG21, YG23, YG17

Teal: BG13, BG18

Blue: B21, B24

Purple: B63, B66

The inside of the frame was adhered directly to a white side fold card base. The frame was adhered with foam adhesive.

The apple from the Simon Says Stamp Teacher Thank Yous Stamps and Dies was stamped on smooth white cardstock with SSS Hot Lips Ink and Green Apple Ink. The image was die cut with the coordinating die and adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

The greetings were die cut with the coordinating dies and adhered to the card with foam adhesive. The phrase was die cut with a Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Labels Die and adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

The Hero Arts Novel Prose Bold Prints was stamped on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/42" panel of SSS Slate Cardstock with Yeti White Ink. The strip was trimmed into a 3" x 5 1/2" strip.

Hero Arts Cherry Cardstock was die cut on the two long sides with a Simon Says Stamp Scallop Stitches die and the text panel was adhered on top.

A Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Apple Stackables was die cut from Hero Arts Cherry Cardstock, Lawn Fawn Paper Bag Cardstock, and Lawn Fawn Noble Fir Cardstock. The apple was stamped with the Simon Says Stamp Gingham Background using black ink. The die cut pieces were adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

Greetings from the Simon Says Stamp Teacher Thank Yous Stamps and Dies were stamped onsmooth white cardstock with SSS Slate Ink, die cut with the coordinating dies, and adhered to the card with foam adhesive. Another phrase was stamped directly on the card with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. 

The worm and thought bubble from the Lawn Fawn A Bug Deal Stamps and Dies were stamped on smooth white cardstock with Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink and the worm colored in with YG21, YG23, YG17, and R20. The images were die cut with the coordinating dies and adhered to the card with foam adhesive. 

The card was finished with a couple of white heart accents.

The thank you apple from the Simon Says Stamp Teacher Thank Yous Stamps and Dies was stamped with Lawn Fawn Plastic Flamingo Ink, SSS Hot Lips Ink, SSS Clementine Ink, SSS Duckling Ink, Green Apple Ink, SSS Scube Ink, SSS Blue Jay Ink, and SSS Hydrangea Ink. The apples were die cut with the coordinating die and adhered to the text background as shown.

Greetings from the Simon Says Stamp Teacher Thank Yous Stamps and Dies were stamped on SSS Slate Cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The greetings were die cut with the coordinating dies and adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

YouTube LIVE: Christmas In July Felt Mitten Ornaments

Happy Tuesday, friends! I've rolled out a new series over on my YouTube Channel where I do weekly Lives. I am really loving being able to connect with you all and chat while creating a card or other fun project! Last night I shared ideas for Christmas In July and stitching up some fun felt ornaments with dies from my stash! I love doing a project like this now as it gives us plenty of time to finish in time for the holidays. I don't know about you but this year, and especially this summer, has flown by!

Currently I am doing a Friday morning Lives at 9 am CT. I adding a once monthly evening Live the last Monday of the month at 7 p.m CT. Replays will be on my YouTube Channel.

I have a few requests to edit the Lives. Currently I am not going to edit them. This is for a couple of reasons:

1) Lives are new to me and we are going to stick with this format for a bit. I personally love Lives. I haven't watched an edited Live so I reserve the right to reconsider in the future if I think it's something I can fit in my schedule.

2) I don't want to spend the precious hours I have for creating new content, editing a Live. I will be bringing the exact same amount of traditional content and videos to my channel. Lives/replays are in addition to that content.

Toadally Unfroggetable Shaker Cards (Simon Says Stamp August 2021 Card Kit)

YOU'RE TOADALLY AWESOME SHAKER CARD

For the front panel of the card, the Hero Arts Mushroom Forest Fancy Die was die cut from a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of smooth white cardstock (included in the kit). The frame was colored with the following Copic Markers:

• Browns: E53, E55, E57
• Greens: YG21, YG17
• Reds: R24, R46, R39

A piece of acetate (included in the kit) was trimmed and adhered behind the frame. Greetings from the Simon Says Stamp Toadally Unfrogettable  6" x 8" Stamp Set was stamped on the acetate with StazOn Cotton White Ink.

A frog, crown, and bow tie from the Simon Says Stamp Toadally Unfrogettable  6" x 8" Stamp Set was stamped on smooth white cardstock (included in the kit) with Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink and colored in with the following Copic Markers:

• Crown: YR31, YR23
• Frog: G20, G21, G24, G28
• Bow Tie: R24, R46, R39

The frog was adhered into the scene in the front of the shaker window as shown. Google Eyes (included in the kit) were added to the frog for a fun touch! The frame was backed with thin foam adhesive strips (included in the kit), forming a frame and filled with Trinity Stamps From Embellishments (included in kit). A Photoplay Custom 6x6 patterned paper (included in the kit) was trimmed down to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and adhered to the frame for a patterned background to the shaker!

Mail It Monday (July 5, 2021) + Hero Arts Summer Stamp-Along Replay Access

Hello friends! I'm super behind on mailing out July's cards. Look for posts all this week as I catch up on mailing out cards.

If you follow me on Instagram HERE you will know that I am doing a year-long series where I send out ten cards weekly to followers randomly selected from a Google Form my friend Lori Craig set up for me. I came up with this for a couple of reasons:

1. I have SO. MANY. CARDS. and not enough friends/family to send them to. You all are so kind and supportive of what I do here and on YouTube and I want to give back!
2. With how hard 2020 was it has reinforced in me that there's nothing like a handmade card in your mailbox to give a little sunshine to others. Not only does it brighten someone else's day, but it brightens MINE to share with you.

If you would like a chance to receive a card, please fill out the form HERE. I can not promise that I will be able to send a card to all of you. The response has exceeded my expectations. I already have over 1900 people signed up. But.... I do make a lot of cards every week so I am going to do my best! 🥰

NOTE One of the questions I receive the most is if I mail cards internationally. Yes I do! It may take a bit to get to you.

CARING THOUGHTS HIBISCUS CARD

A 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of smooth white cardstock was inked with a combination of Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Ink and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink. The background was lightly spritzed with water from a Distress Sprayer and allowed to air dry.

The panel was stamped with the Simon Says Stamp Friendship Text Background using Lawn Fawn Yeti Pigment Ink. I love a good text background.

The large flower from the Simon Says Stamp Hibiscus Blooms Stamps and Dies was stamped on Bristol Smooth Cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The image was watercolored with the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a water brush pen:

• Orange: Scarlet Red, Bright Yellow, Yellow
• Green: Light Green, Yellow Green

The image was die cut with the coordinating die and adhered to the background as shown.

The "caring thoughts" sentiment from the stamp set was stamped on smooth white cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossed with Antique Gold Embossing Powder. The sentiment was die cut with the coordinating die and adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

Another sentiment was stamped on smooth white cardstock with Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Ink and die cut with a Sentiment Labels Die. The strip was adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

The design was finished with a scattering of heart embellishments.

Currently I am doing a Friday morning Live at 9 am CT. I adding a once monthly evening Live (for now!). The first evening Live will be July 26, 2021 at 7 pm CST. Replays will be on my YouTube Channel.

I have a few requests to edit the Lives. Currently I am not going to edit them. This is for a couple of reasons:

1) Lives are new to me and we are going to stick with this format for a bit. I personally love Lives. I haven't watched an edited Live so I reserve the right to reconsider in the future if I think it's something I can fit in my schedule.

2) I don't want to spend the precious hours I have for creating new content, editing a Live. I will be bringing the exact same amount of traditional content and videos to my channel. Lives/replays are in addition to that content.

The background was created by stamping a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of SSS Sea Glass Cardstock with the Simon Says Stamp Stained Glass Background using clear embossing ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder. The background was inked with Distress Oxide Inks in Mermaid Lagoon, Prize Ribbon, and Black Soot. The excess ink was buffed away with a dry rag. The panel was splattered with Brushed Pewter Distress Ink.

The moon from the Simon Says Stamp Night Sky was die cut from smooth white cardstock and inked with Distress Oxide Inks in Mustard Seed and Wild Honey. The moon was adhered to the background. Clouds were die cut from smooth white cardstock and Lawn Fawn Pearlescent Vellum. The vellum clouds were adhered using the Xyron Sticker Maker.

The Simon Says Stamp Shoot For the Stars was die cut from Black Licorice Cardstock and SSS Silver Holographic Cardstock. The greeting were adhered as shown. A Simon Says Stamp Reverse Magical Wishes Sentiment Strip was trimmed and adhered with foam adhesive.

Simon Says Stamp Magic Stars were die cut from SSS Silver Holographic Cardstock. The stars and Simon Says Stamp Night Sky Sequins were scattered throughout the design as shown.
