Paper Doll Art Journal | June 2015

Today's post is coming to you a bit late because someone forgot to remove all the background noise in her video and didn't realize it until it was set to go live and had to redo the whole thing and then she had a typo on the opening screen and had to redo the whole thing again! features a bonus video showing my entire Paper Doll Art Journal, the album I use for my pages and a little bit about how and why I chose it. For my June 2015 Paper Doll Art Journal page I got a bit carried away and created a 2-page spread using three dolls: Riley, Candie and Chiara! The patterned papers for the girls' outfits and the awning on the ice cream cart are all leftover Doodlebug Summer 6x6 patterned papers from the June 2015 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. The Doodlebug Summer Enamel Sprinkles made the perfect accessories for both the paper dolls and for the ice cream cart!

In addition to the Julie Nutting Riley, Candie and Chiara dolls, I used "hats" from both the Hats #1 and Hats #2 stamp sets for two of the dolls. The bunny ears from the Hats #1 stamp set was altered to make the blue headband.

Art journals are a great place to try out different skin and hair combinations with your markers or colored pencils! The color combinations I used are shown in the upper left corner of the screen of the how to video.

The Doodlebug Summer 6x6 patterned papers made the perfect bright and fun outfits for these dolls. I shaded the "clothing" with Warm Gray Copic Markers to give the outfits depth and dimension to match the dolls.

The ice cream cart made the page. The design is actually a lemonade stand from the Silhouette Online Store but it made the perfect little ice cream cart for this page design! The cart is filled with "goodies" from the Doodlebug Summer Enamel Sprinkles sticker sheet and the sign on the cart is a combination of stamps from the Simon Says Stamp Gnome For the Holidays and Ice Cream Dream sets.

I finished the page with another stamped phrase from the Simon Says Stamp Cone Building Stamp Set and a date from Kerri Bradford's Time Again Stamp Set.

PAPER DOLL ART JOURNAL | MAY 2015

Today I'm sharing my May 2015 page. I used the leftover patterned papers from the Simon Says Stamp May 2015 Card Kit to outfit the Julie Nutting Adam Doll Stamp and Julie Nutting Marisol Doll Stamp with the awesome Julie Nutting Dress and Skirts Stamp Set and Julie Nutting Business Casual Stamp Set as well as to piece together the background of this 6x8 page. 

I am tickled with these customizable dolls with outfits (and there are even more outfits coming soon from Prima and Julie Nutting). You will be seeing these same dolls again and again but with different outfits. I definitely love that these are so easily customizable!

The Julie Nutting Adam Doll Stamp and Julie Nutting Marisol Doll Stamp were stamped on a text design 12x12 patterned paper and I colore din the skin and hair with Copic Markers. The individual marker colors are listed and linked below in supplies and shown in the upper left corner of the how to video.

To outfit both of the dolls, I used the Julie Nutting Dress and Skirts Stamp Set, Julie Nutting Marisol Doll Stamp, and Julie Nutting Business Casual Stamp Set with the 6x6 patterned papers from the Simon Says Stamp May 2015 Card Kit. I added shading and detail to the outfits with Copic Markers and finishing touches to the dress with tiny, tiny clear gems and sequin trim around the waist of the dress.

The background striped "wall" and gold "baseboard" and black "flooring" were created by creatively adhering 6x6 patterned papers to a 6x8 sheet of cardstock.

The phrase for the May page was stamped from Kerri Bradford's Beautiful Day Stamp Set and the date is from her Time Stamp Set.

The star confetti was die cut from scraps of patterned paper from the Simon Says Stamp May 2015 Card Kit using the Mama Elephant Lots of Stars Die.

Paper Doll Art Journal | APRIL 2015

I finally have another Paper Doll Art Journal Page to share. I know it's been awhile and many of you have been asking. I have three started and unfinished. Too many deadlines and not enough time to finish pages and edit videos! My plan is to get caught up through July within the next couple of weeks.

Today I'm sharing my April 2015 page. I used some of the leftover Bazzill Gold Foil specialty paper from the Simon Says Stamp April 2015 Card Kit to outfit the Julie Nutting Rita Doll Stamp. I added a die cut window and "floor" to the background and stamped a colored a sweet kitten from the Mama Elephant Purrfect Pair stamp set to sit on the windowsill.

The Julie Nutting Rita Doll Stamp was stamped on an older scrap of Echo Park Yours Truly text paper with the MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink and her skin and hair were colored in with Copic Markers. The dress was stamped on a piece of Bazzill Gold Foil specialty paper and colored with Copic Markers to add detail. The belt and shoes were stamped on DCWV Foiled paper in gold, fussy cut and glued to the doll. The doll's gloves were stamped on a piece of Avery Elle Neutral paper, fussy cut and adhered to the doll, then the entire doll was fussy cut.

The small kitten from the Mama Elephant Purrfect Pair stamp set was stamped on the text paper and colored in with Copic Markers, then fussy cut.

The background of the page is a 6x8 trimmed piece of Webster's Pages Composition & Color Wallpaper patterned paper. The floor was created with some MME woodgrain paper. The window was die cut from a MME woodgrain patterned paper and the October Afternoon Campfire Star Gazing paper using a design in the Silhouette Online store (Arch Window: Design ID #42631). I adhered the window to the background and the kitten sitting in the windowsill.

The phrase and date were stamped along the bottom edge with Kerri Bradford Studio stamps using Delicata Golden Glitz Ink, Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy Ink and MFT Natural Hybrid Ink.

The ball of yarn is from the Simon Says Stamp You Are Pawesome Stamp Set and the paw prints from the Mama Elephant Purrfect Pair stamp set.

Paper Doll Art Journal | March 2015 (video)

Hello! Today the incredible May Flaum and I are celebrating National Craft Month with some art journaling pages! Be sure to check out May's blog HERE for her project.

I stamped the Prima Paper Doll Audrey Stamp on text paper and colored in her skin and hair with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked below in supplies). I stamped her again on leftover Authentic Classique Beauty patterned papers from the Simon Says Stamp March 2015 Card Kit of the Month. I fussy cut the clothing and the hat and adhered them to the paper doll. I added shading to her "clothing" with Cool Gray Copic Markers.

I created the background for the page by trimming a 12x12 sheet of "cloud design" paper to 6x8. I used the Silhouette Cameo to die cut the tree from the Kerri Bradford This & That Spring Kit, the fence from the KBS This & That Lucky Kit and the title from the KBS Today Is A Good Day Kit.

I created grass using the Lawn Fawn Grassy Border Die to complete the background. I adhered the paper doll and finished her ensemble with some black Prima Say It With Crystals "jewelry" and a bow for her hat created with the Mama Elephant Dainty Bow Die.

I finished the scene with some backyard critters stamped from the Lawn Fawn Hello Baby Stamp Set and Lawn Fawn Critters In the Burbs Stamp Set. I colored the images in with Copic Markers, cut them out and adhered them to the page.

I stamped the date on the page using Kerri Bardford's new Time Again Stamp Set.

Paper Doll Art Journal | February 2015 (video)

Happy weekend and last day of February 2015!

I'm continuing with my Paper Doll Art Journaling Series with my February 2015 page featuring leftovers from the February 2015 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I couldn't wait to break out one of the new Julie Nutting Doll Stamps for my page this month! I combined the Ruby Doll Stamp with the Crate Paper Kiss Kiss 6x6 patterned papers and my new favorite addition to the paper doll collection: Say It In Crystals in black. I used a brick patterned paper and the Crate Paper Kiss Kiss Rub-ons to create a graffiti style wall behind my doll. Some potted plants stamped with the Lawn Fawn Stuck On You Stamp Set and Lawn Fawn Our Friendship Grows Stamp Set completed the scene.

To create my page I stamped the Julie Nutting Ruby Doll Stamp on text paper and colored in the skin and hair with Copic Markers (skin: E00, E11, E15, R20 ; hair: E30, E31, E55). I stamped the Ruby Doll Stamp on Crate Paper Kiss Kiss 6x6 patterned papers and fussy cut the clothing and shoes, gluing it in place over the doll. I added shading with Warm Gray Copic Markers and cut out the doll. I adhered the matching hair accessory and applied Glossy Accents over the shoes to make them shine.

For the background, I trimmed down a piece of KaiserCraft 12x12 patterned paper to 6x8 and trimmed a piece of cardstock for the bottom edge to give the paper doll image a place to "stand". For the "graffiti" on the brick "wall", I applied Crate Paper Kiss Kiss Rub-ons with a Teflon Bone Folder. I stamped the date on the "wall" as well. I glued the paper doll image in place and adhered the black Say It In Crystals jewelry.

To finish the scene, I stamped pots and plants from the Lawn Fawn Stuck On You Stamp Set and Lawn Fawn Our Friendship Grows Stamp Set, added shading and coloring with Copic Markers as needed, then fussy cut the images and adhered them to the page.

Happy weekend and last day of January 2015!

I'm continuing with my Paper Doll Art Journaling Series and kicking it off with my January 2015 page featuring leftovers from the January 2015 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I wanted to create a winter-ish scene with the amazing Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 patterned papers. I chose the gorgeous Julie Nutting Aurora Paper Doll Stamp for my January page and gave her some cute critters admirers from the Mama Elephant Purrfect Pair Stamp Set, Lawn Fawn Hello Baby Stamp Set and Avery Elle More Stories Stamp Set.

To create my page I stamped the Julie Nutting Aurora Paper Doll Stamp on the Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 purple snowflake 6x6 paper and cut out the dress. I added shading with Copic Markers BV23, BV25 and C00. I went over the entire dress with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker. I stamped the image again on the white text Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 patterned paper and cut out the gloves, adding shading with Cool Gray Copic Markers. I stamped the entire doll again on text paper and colored in her skin and hair with Copic Markers. I stamped the image on some Bazzill Silver Metallic Cardstock, cut it out and adhered it to the doll. I cut the paper doll out and added the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Marker to the crown, then applied a layer of Glossy Accents and set the doll aside.

I created the backgroud using the leftover Bo Bunny Altitude 6x6 patterned papers. I die cut snow drifts for the bottom of the design using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders dies. I adhered the doll to the background, embellishing her outfit with the Julie Nutting Say It With Crystals "jewelry" (coming soon to Simon Says Stamp).

I stamped the phrase "Live Creatively" from an old Studio Calico scrapbook kit on the background using Versamark Ink and heat set the phrase with Simon Says Stamp White Fine Detail Embossing Powder. I added small clear gemstones to the centers of the snowflakes on the background paper.

I stamped the kitty from the Mama Elephant Purrfect Pair Stamp Set, the bunny from the Lawn Fawn Hello Baby Stamp Set and the fox from the Avery Elle More Stories Stamp Set on a scrap of text paper and colored in the images with Copic Markers. I fussy cut each and adhered them to the page.

I finished the page by stamping the date using a date stamp.

Paper Doll Art Journaling | September 2014 & December 2014 (videos)

I'm sharing the last two 2014 Paper Doll Art Journal pages plus a complete look at all the 2014 pages in a 6x8 album (see the December 2014 video below for the entire album). 

This page is my September 2014 journal entry....

I used lots of leftover October Afternoon Public Library patterned papers from the September 2014 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I kept with the theme of the kit for my page design, using an October Afternoon 12x12 paper for the background, trimmed down to 6x8. I cut down the library card cabinet paper from the kit and adhered it to the background.

I stamped one of the book designs from the To Thine Own Self Stamp Set using the MFT Wild Cherry Ink, MFT Orange Fizz Ink and MFT Blu Raspberry Ink and cut the books out, adhering them to the top of the library cabinet. I colored Simon from the Seasonal Simon using Copic Markers and adhered him to the top of the stack of books. Glossy Accents on his nose and eyes make them pop. 

I stamped the Betty Doll Stamp on the October Afternoon Public Library text paper and colored her in with Copic Markers. I stamped, cut and paper pieced her outfit from the October Afternoon Public Library pattered papers and adhered her to the page standing on top of another stamped and cut out book to complete the page.

My December 2014 journal entry....

I decided to go with a New Year's "party theme" for my December page since I did a more holiday-themed art journal page for November. The December 2014 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit was an embossing-themed kit with lots of cardstock and no patterned paper so I raided my patterned paper stash for this page! I kept the colors pretty neutral and sparkly to match the awesome background paper from the Webster's Pages All That Glitters Collection.

I created a landscape for the doll to stand on my die cutting some vellum and a Teresa Collins Summer Stories patterned paper using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders die and layering them along the bottom of the 6x8 page.

I stamped the Dita Paper Doll Stamp on the Doodlebug Lovebirds text print patterned paper and colored in her skin and hair with Copic Markers. I created a neutral party dress for my doll using scraps of paper from several different 6x6 papaer pads and piecing them together. I used the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter marker over her dress and matching handbag. The handbag is from the Prima Boutique Stamp Set. I stamped and cut her shoes from the DCWV Glitter 6x6 Paper Pad. 

I stamped Simon from the Stylish Simon Stamp Set on the same text paper as the doll and colored him in with Copics, giving him a matching patterned paper bowtie to match the paper doll.

I stamped the greeting from the Sparkle and Shine Stamp Set using Versamark Ink and heat embossed the image with Platinum Embossing Powder. I finished the page with Pretty Pink Posh sequins and confetti.

Today catching up with my Paper Doll Art Journaling and sharing two of the remaining four months for 2014! The remaining two and a look at my entire 2014 Paper Doll Art Journal will be shared tomorrow.

This page is my June 2014 journal entry (yep, I totally worked out of order). It's my goal to actually do one art journal entry per month for 2015....

I used leftover patterned paper from the June 2014 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit of the Month. I stamped the doll on text paper and colored in the skin and hair with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked below in the supplies). The paper is from the My Mind's Eye Mildred 6 x 6 Paper Pad and many of the pattens from this paper pad are sized nicely for outfitting paper dolls! I used the Julie Nutting Candie Doll Stamp for this page design and the Hats #2 Stamp Set to complete her outfit.

I stamped the doll on a text paper that is no longer available and was in my stash. I've linked to similar text papers below the supply list near the end of this post.

The romantic feeling of the doll's outfit looked matched the look of this  awesome Webster's Pages Strawberry Fields paper that I used for the base of my art journal entry. To give a bit of depth and dimension to where the doll is "standing", I die cut a bit of the paper I trimmed off using the Lawn Fawn Grassy Border die. I love how it helps the paper doll appear to be standing in the wheat field.

I stamped a quote from the Avery Elle Look Up Stamp Set using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I finished the page with stamped and paper pieced butterflies from the Lawn Fawn Blissful Botanicals Stamp Set.

I stamped the Riley Doll Stamp on text paper again and colored her with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked below in the supplies). I used leftover 6x6 patterned papers from the Pink Paislee Pen Pals Paper Pad to outfit her (I sort of dig the red, white & blue theme for a July art journal entry). I also used another of the "hats" from the Hats #2 Stamp Set to complete her ensemble.

I love the Crate Paper Open Book paper for this page. I love how it looks like the buildings are behind the doll "scene"! I stamped a phrase from the MFT Bokeh Builder Stamp Set above one of the buildings using the MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I stamped first and second generation hearts form the Sending Happy Thoughts Stamp Set using MFT Wild Cherry Ink around the phrase and doll to add a pop of color and interest to the page design.

Like all my art journal pages for 2014 I've added Simon the dog from the Seasonal Simon Stamp Set to my page. I colored him with Copic Markers and added Glossy Accents to his eyes and nose. Using the text paper for Simon helps tie him in with the dolls and the rest of the page desgin.  My favorite part of Simon from this page? The cute letter from the Sending Happy Thoughts Stamp Set in his mouth!

Paper Doll Art Journaling with Julie Nutting Doll Stamps & November Card Kit Leftovers (video)

Today I'm sharing another entry in my paper doll art journal, this one featuring the awesome boy paper doll Aidan and one of the newer girl stamps, Keira, Simon the dog plus a wintery snow scene adorned with leftovers from the November 2014 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit (this kit is sold out but many of the products are available for purchase individually and are linked below in the supplies). Creating art journal pages is one of my favorite ways to "use up" leftovers from the card kits every month. I adore the Lawn Fawn Snow Day papers in this kit. Some of my favorites!

I stamped the Prima Julie Nutting Aidan Paper Doll Stamp and Prima Julie Nutting Keira Paper Doll Stamp on text background patterned paper and colored in their skin and hair with Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked below in supplies).

I stamped the dolls again on several of the Lawn Fawn Snow Day patterned papers and fussy cut them, paper piecing the "clothing" together. I added shading with gray Copic Markers to give the clothing depth and dimension to match the dolls. I added some pearl gemstones and the cute enamel bow to the girl doll's dress for a sweet finishing touch.

I stamped the stocking hat from the Prima Hats 2 Mixed Media Stamps on the Lawn Fawn Snow Day patterned papers, fussy cut the pieces and paper pieced together the hat for the girl.

For the girl's shoes, I colored them in with my favorite black gel marker.

I used one of the Lawn Fawn Snow Day Collection patterned papers for my page background and die cut "snow" from white cardstock and vellum using the Stitched Hillside Borders Dies.

I stamped one of the phrases from the Mama Elephant Alpine Carolers Stamp Set on the background of my page and added an enamel heart sticker below it.

Paper Doll Art Journaling with Julie Nutting Doll Stamps & October Card Kit Leftovers

Today I'm sharing another entry in my paper doll art journal, this one featuring a doll and scene adorned with leftovers from the October 2014 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit (this kit is sold out but many of the products are available for purchase individually and are linked below in the supplies). Creating art journal pages is one of my favorite ways to "use up" leftovers from the card kits every month. Limiting the paper choices also makes creation of the art journal pages a snap since I'm not overthinking it and going through my entire stash! ;)

I used the adorable Prima Julie Nutting Valentina Doll Stamp and the Prima Hats 1 Mixed Media Stamps to create a witch for my October page. I stamped my doll on an old October Afternoon patterned paper with a text background that was in my stash. *If you're looking for text patterned papers for your dolls I've linked to some of my favorites below. I colored in the skin and hair of my doll using Copic Markers (the individual marker colors are listed and linked below in supplies). I thought green hair would make a fun addition to my cute witch!

The Basic Grey Grand Bazaar 6x6 patterned papers were perfect for creating a paper pieced ensemble!

I stamped pumpkins from the Thanksgiving Table Stamp Set and paper pieced them with the leftover patterned papers as well.

Like all my art journal pages for 2014 I've added Simon the dog to my page. This one is from the Seasonal Simon Stamp Set. I made him a witch hat using the Lawn Fawn Hats Off To You Stamp Set. I colored in Simon with Copic Markers as well and added Glossy Accents to his eyes and nose.

I stamped the phrase for my page with Versamark Ink using the Lawn Fawn Clark's ABC's Stamps and embossed the words with SSS Silver Fine Detail Embossing Powder and SSS White Fine Detail Embossing Powder. I added stamped and embossed bats and a hanging spider from the Trick or Treat Stamp Set to finish my page.
